Yorktown Heights Fire Department

Rescue Comapny 16

2009 Spartan/Rescue 1

Special thanks to 2531 for the photos and sharing his departments latest aqquisition with us!

As always, Martin and his members have added another AWESOME and well thought out apparatus to their fleet. I expected nothing less from the man who was behind Engine 270, MA-8, Ladder 51 and bringing Yorktown back to red amongst many other things. Congrats and best of luck with the new Rescue 16!

Also, at the link below are some photos of the custom tool mounting:

Funny you should say that because Andy was there and had us set them up... LOL.... We took them after we got off the nighshift.. The pics were last minute or I would have gotten in touch with your father.. But I will hook up with him and Joe for better shots and also for rescue 55..

Nice looking rig for sure, especially since its red lol! Nice work YHFD on spec'ing this truck out. The Spartans have definately grown on me, they seem to make a good product. Best of luck to YHFD with the new rig, may she serve you well for years and years to come.

As for the "old" R16; it looks to be in pretty good shape from the pictures. Would make a good rescue for a less fortunate dept. May even be good to re-mount the body on a custom chassis.

Nice rig Yorktown best of luck with it. I must say it takes a little getting used to for me with the new red color ever since I was a kid going to your parades with my dad the rigs were the lime yellow color but I guess it was time for a change. Stay safe and God Bless!

Kenny,

A lot of departments are getting away from walk-in bodies like our Rescues have because the seating safety isn't as good as you get with a crew cab. I doubt we will have another walk-in when we retire R18 in a few years.

Great looking vehicle, Yorktown!!!!! Definitely a lot of thought and planning went into this beauty. May you have many years of good service !!!! I love the red and white chevrons on the rear!!!

Although safety is a number 1 concern, it isn’t the reason Yorktown switched to a walk around. When the committee started working on the spec 3 years ago, it was decided on then we would go to a 6 man cab. Knowing that walk-in boxes have the greatest loss in compartment real estate.
