  1. Tommorow is the 2nd Annual Battle of the Badges benefiting the wounded warrior fund. This event is this Saturday ( Tommorow) from noon till 5pm. There are plenty of events, games, and food for every member of the family to partake in.

This game will be at Mamaroneck High school. The teams are Larchmont PD verse NYS PD at 1pm , and The Town of Mamaroneck PD verse Town of Mamaroneck Fire after that game. Once again all proceeds earned at this event will be going towards the Wounded Warriors fund. Come on out and have a great time for a great cause.

Please see the flyer attached. Goo LPD!! Haha

  2. Or wasn't it Roxanne? The same crazy lady who would call the County PD and start rattling off stuff...she used to call from the Bronx, the Mobil on the Hutch...oh the fun we had sometimes when it was slow.....she never did let us know what hte winning lottery numbers were, though!!!

She use to call MEMS, we use to let the new probationary member talk on the phone with her, and say to them, we have pd tracing the call keep them on the phone to we can get to her... Goodtimes.... Wonder if she passed?

  3. This is nothing new. Many people consider an emergency to be anything that is important or annoys them. People used 911 for just about every type of call imaginable. Here are a few

    That I can recall:

    • A man called 911 and wanted a police report confirming that his cable TV was not working so he could claim a refund for the day.
    • A lady called 911 wanting to file a police report because her insurance company needed a report for the jewelry she lost in the Bahamas. She was advised that 911 is only for emergencies. She stated that she was busy and didnt have time to look up the non-emergency number in the phone book and with the taxes she paid why should she have to pay for directory assistance. 911 is just so convenient and since I am on the phone, cant you just send someone over here now so I can file my claim. This would be for an incident that occurred in the Bahamas? She confirmed this and was advised that she would have to report the incident were it happened.
    • Before cell phones, people would call 911 on pay phones to report parking violations so they would not have to pay the 25 cents.
    • Calls about a parade in another jurisdiction
    • Could we send someone over and change a light bulb.
    • Is there school today?

We could start a new thread on some of the worst abuses of 911.

  4. I would love to see EMS Agenies who don't get out get automatic mutual aid. No more of this 3 tone outs. (4 if you count the initial dispatch) I think it's crazy that there are 20min respond times for an ambulance in this county. Some of which only respond with a driver only, with no EMT/first responder. What happens if that unit is flag down on the way to the job he was dispatched to?

  5. I would like to clarify my post quoted. First thing is first. I apologize to the members of VMFD who were not mentioned specifically as I did not have that information available when I wrote my quote. Those members have since been named, and congratulations to them are in order. If it wasn't for the good search preformed by the E-38 crew (I believe that was the correct engine, if not a am sorry again) and the quick efforts of the members performing CPR quickly, and getting early advance care. This person would not be here. You all deserve a way to go for this job, victims of fire in these kind of cases survival rates are far and few between. Be proud. You all made a difference and that's what it is all about.

  7. This has to be the first time in NYS where an EMS union has striked, won fair wages, and didnt loose any contracts (as of yet) I know there are alot of Pro EMS Union Members here on the boards, I'm just looking to see other members reactions. Congrats to the members of Teamsters Local 375 of rural/metro EMS for fighting for what they wanted.

"BUFFALO, N.Y. With a strike set to begin in a little over a week, executives at Rural/Metro Medical Services of Western New York are hoping to avoid a work stoppage but plan to continue coverage of emergency medical services.."

"After beginning a strike at just after midnight, union workers have reached a tentative agreement with Rural/Metro Medical Services of WNY.

In a media announcement released just after 9:20 a.m. this morning, Rural/Metro Division General Manager Jay Smith said the two sides reached a resolution after an all-night negotiating session."

  8. Westchester County EMS lost a great, Mentor, Colleague, and Educator. I hope you and your family find peace. May you, and god watch over them, and may you continue to "guide" us as your pre-hospital care providers. You demanded nothing but perfection. It goes to show you, you wanted nothing but the best from us, and thru you, we made Westchester County a great place to work. Once again god bless you, and your family. May you forever Rest in Peace Dr. D.
