Me too. Damn 35 YO minimum age, lol!!!! If that was to happen, the Presidential limosine would be a Pierce Arrow XT 100' RM Aerial!!!!

I have a feeling this won't be the last we see of R-6. BTW, Are those "temporary" collapse units still in service????????
-
Wow, definetly some exciting news on the Yonkers front! (But hopefully, we will next be hearing that YPD*ESU is getting a Mack MR ESU Truck!!!) I wonder if the are going to be making any modifications to the current rig, such as relettering or adding some makeshift compartments???? Can't wait to the new (ALF?) Rescue Pumper!!!
-
Yeah, and so you can get gas money for your truck, of which I STILL have not seen a photo of!!!!! Talking about snow this early is almost as disgusting as the Christmas stuff being out. There is no possible way it could be even near that time of year again......where did the summer go?

ALS is GLUED to MSNBC right now. I heard someone tried to turn on Fox News Channel and he almost killed them. :poke:

I wonder how many departments actually properly and regualrly clean both their facepieces and the actual pack infastructure, as well as the bottles.

This sounds sucipicous. Albany usually hires during the NYS FF Civil Service process, which is usually in May. My guess is that this ad is either a disguise for a Test-Prep firm or the US Military.

Just for reference, just some bills that are/were active in the NYS Assembly. http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?bn=A04382 Restricts the use of unmarked or concealed identity law enforcement vehicles by the state police and designated state departments and offices http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?bn=A08369 Prohibits the use of unmarked police vehicles to routinely stop motorists for vehicle and traffic law violations, with exceptions http://assembly.state.ny.us/leg/?bn=S00954 Restricts the use of unmarked or concealed identity law enforcement vehicles by the state police and designated state departments and offices

The full moon turns red and orange as it passes the Space Needle in Seattle during a total lunar eclipse Wednesday evening, Oct. 27, 2004. With the Earth passing between the sun and the moon, the only light hitting the full moon was from the home planet's sunrises and sunsets, resulting in the orange and red hue. Just wondering when everybody's Winter Uniform period starts? Also, do you have transition period? I can't believe its time for winter uniforms already. Makes you really appreciate the simplicity of the summer uniform.

Like everything else with WC Gov., I'll believe it when I see it finally done. The rumor is, that the new "firehouse" bays will face out onto the Bus- Depot road....the bays are definetly needed.....all the vehicles should be housed inside at least for protection from the elements...The new training props are definetly needed as well, the taxpayer and mask confidence ones are long overdue. The pond has needed dredging for a while....its almost a puddle. With that said........HOW ABOUT AN IMPROVMENT/UPGRADE OF THE RADIO ROOM FACILITIES!!!!! I guess communications is always overlooked in this county.
-
Cablevision gets greedier and greedier each day, just as News 12 gets worse . So i guess people who now live outside of the WC who use News12.com to keep up on WC are out of luck, and so are those who subscribe to the Dish network or DirectTV. I wonder what this new "Premium Service" will include

Just curious- are there any Firehouses in the Westchester County area that still have sliding poles that they use actively??? How about poles that are still there, but not used? Also, were there a lot of departments that even had poles at one time or another? I'd assume the volunteer houses would have no use for them, since they responded from home.....so they probaly were mostly in career houses?
-
Wait, don't FDNY EMT's and Paramedics staff these Haz-Tac units??? It does say triaging and administering antidotes, which is an EMS role as far as I know.

Nice!

OK Then, LOL ( I love 183, just not as a Rescue Pumper) Out of curiosity, would a Searave Lo-pro RM fit???? Also, by saying a "unique vehicle", I can only assume that this means Somers FD will be getting a Helicopter. 3 out of the 4 stations have the room for a helipad.....either that, or the world's first tiller-brush truck....now hows that for a crazy idea!!! Regardless of me getting of topic, It's sad to see Somers getting rid of a piece filled with such history, but also kinda cool to see that they are getting their fleet updated. This rigs deserves a retirment party.
-
LOL, give it a few more years and Somers won't need any brush trucks!! My two hopes for Somers FD Brush trucks: (although I'm not happy about the disposal of another classic) 1. Convert/Rehab 183 into a Brush truck 2. Unimog!!! http://www.unimogtrucks.com/products/firefighting.asp And my third hope for Somers: 3. Pierce Arrow XT 75' RM Ladder w/ 1250gpm pump and 500 gallon tank.

Yup, I'm glad some people still reconize my voice, lol! I was 45-Medic-Dispatch (LOL).....I came off the road Sat to fill in for a dispatcher who was very ill so he could go home and get some rest. (My agency, Westchester EMS-Stellaris Health, provides communications services for the Somers Fire District, under contract, from SFD HQ's in Lincolndale) I also worked last Sat. It's actually a lot more complicated job at times dispatching Somers than it seems..any dispatching job for that matter, but for the purpose of this thread, uniquely so in Somers....extreme multitasking, and everything has to be done 100% right at exactly the right time. There's a lot of different things to remember, and a lot of manual tasks to be done. They certainly do expect high performance out of their radio dispatchers, and hold them accountable for their actions. With that said, being I'm still learning the system, hoping I did a good job, hopefully I can stop hiding from 2441 and 2442 and not get banned from seeing 185,lol!

Thanks for the updates. What chasis will they be on,Ferrara's Inferno,Igniter,Ultra, Spartan, HME, or other???? Also, suprising P'ville went from a Cadillac to a Ford. I would've thunk Pierce or ALF wouldve been next.

Very, very disappointing news. Now, I understand there are a lot of agencies that operate Wheeled Coach and are satisfied. However, most of these places, they are the low-bid winner, or people don't any better. With the excpetion of LA City's ambulances (which are built completly differently then the regular wheeled coachs) Also, look how many repeat customers WC has had in the WC. Those who bought once never bought again. Harrison, Eastchester, Empress, Transcare/Metrocare, etc etc. I've seen several photos of Wheeled Coach modules involved in MVA's, and the mods just disintergrate. And what bothers me the most about Wheeled Coach, is, put it up side to side with another quality manufacturers product, and you can actually FEEL the construction differences. You guys must be happy with Wheeled Coach, if you voted for it. (or members who dont actively ride have way too much of a say). Mohegan EMS, being as busy as they are, and being a volunteer agency, shocks me that they would put price over quality. ScarVac and EFD EMS, SAME thing. There are plenty of other great quality brands out there besides Wheeled Coach, that you could probaly get a similar value for, especially if you bought a demo. Lifeline, Road Rescue, MedTec, Braun, Excellance, Horton, etc. Oh well, best of luck with it.
