I gotta admit, that spare Ford/Smeal is an interesting looking rig.

My daughter and I got to sit in the tiller seat of Harry Howard (PCFD) Seagrave Tiller. I learned to tiller that rig back in 1982/3. Always neat to see those old rigs. Too bad so many are in "storage" and not being made "display ready".
Nice to see Larchmont's Engine 1 looking like it just came from the factory (but it was 90 years ago or so).

Only the best firefighters can be in the Squad. One time we pulled up to a report of a child in the river and the waters parted like Moses and the Red Sea. We get our bullet proof capes and learn to yell Squad loudly.

Thanx, bud. Glad you enjoyed your little visit. I live for stuff like that. Showing you guys out on the street what goes on on the other side of the radio.

Just wanted to extend a thank you to JBE... I had the pleasure by his invitation to see the main FDNY communications office at Metrotech in Brooklyn the other day while on a visit to FDNY HDQTRS. It was a very impressive sight and nice to meet and greet all the guys and gals who work where all the magic begins... Everyone was very professional and a great work atmosphere. Most people don't get to see what a difficult and stressful job it is to be a fire alarm dispatcher and these guys made it look like the rest of the world is moving in slow motion. These people are just not credited enough for the work they do behind the scenes; its truely incredible Just wish they'd give you guys a kitchen!!!
Thanks again Jimmy and enjoy vacation
    Dave

Not at all, dude. This is what we did. And if you were a teenager in those years like, I and many others were, you would have worn surviving a day at Action Park like a badge of honor. Or you could wear your scars the same way. That spring water was freaking COLD!!! The only words I can use are able to cut glass. Nuff said.

You guys know me. I'm a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to this stuff.

2 Truck was also rocking the spare. They dropped their drive shaft in the middle of I think 2nd Avenue a few weeks ago. They were heading up to the 59th Street Bridge for a wreck. Anyways, here's my contribution.
I really don't like shooting rigs on a day like this because they aren't really positioned for the good shots. Then all the compartments are open, kinda takes away.
Marine 1 after the water display.

    Marine 6, 6B(EMS Boat), and Marine 8.

Marine 6 and 9 doing the water display.

Onto the pier for the rig shots.

Then it's off to get lunch, then down to my office to show my stepson what his old pal Jimmy does for a living. As we walk into the PSAC that time forgot, a 2nd Alarm being transmitted for Manhattan Box 76. Pre-requisite bathroom breaks, and off we go. Mind you, we drove past this not even 15 minutes before, and saw NOTHING!!!!
    Rescue 1, L-118(Think I took this with the cell), L-6, E-14, E-15, E-7, and Squad.

Not now, Chief, I'm in the #@%^ing Zone!!!

On the way home, the little guy needed a bathroom break. Then again, so did his mom and me. We stopped at 95 Engine and took care of things. They got a run as I was leaving, so the little guy got to see them turning out, which put a nice sized smile on his face.
Hope ya like the pix. Enjoy!!
