That is the best way to go about it. Whenever I have a patient who wants to RMA I go to great lengths to explain to them that only so much can be done in the field. As mentioned though it's going to come down to the PCR, although I'm sure the two medics are already sitting on the couch :\

Well, can we probably agree that all the members of this forum do not drive by there regularly? So, Prucha, I for one appreciate the note.

A lot of jumping all over people recently for posting pretty innocuous comments and questions. What gives?

No, that was on route 9 and is a completely different bar. The Firehouse Grille was / will be once again on Welcher Ave and Washington Street in Peekskill.
Sorry I don't drive on that street every single day? There wasn't a thread, and the last thread about the subject is archived. I know for a fact there are people who don't live in Peekskill, or drive around Peekskill often at all that would like to know the info so I figured I'd post a topic

Dr. John A. McGurty, Jr. He had a City of Peekskill issued response vehicle. He now devotes most of his time to his military commitments, however, he still does a few shifts at Hudson Valley ER. A true supporter of EMS, Police, and Fire.

United Ems Workers is a union that formed last year aimed at bringing together EMS around the country much like the IAFF. FDNY's EMS union ( local 2507) has been actively involved in this as well as in Washington trying to move EMS from the DOT to the DHS. You can check them out on facebook. The United EMS workers fall under AFSCME which is the Parent union.

Hoping some LEO brothers/sisters can help me with a few questions...Isn't minimum staffing for PD regulated by population? And if a merger takes place and the officers slide over to the new agency..while your civil service time carries over...don't you lose seniority in terms of the CBA...or is that negotiable?
Also I love hearing savings to taxpayers..there are plenty of other things in most places that are wasteful...public safety is not. What is the minimum staffing per tour of these areas? What will it be once a merger takes place? Of the other places where a merger took place..do you have the same amount of staffing on the road in your town or village?
Funny thing is many will support PD mergers...yet talk about FD consolidation and adding professional staff and forget it.

I will buy whatever I feel meets my needs, likes, etc. I could care less about who got what. If I want a GM..I'm going to buy a GM. I think that is about the only money given by the government that made any sense and kept people at work. Where would our economy be if the vehicle industry or any one of them collapsed. They did a much better job then the banks did when they got money.

Not to take away from the topic at hand, but although I am no fan of the City of New York as an employer, it was a Federal Judge, not a City Judge, who rendered a decision that the FDNY's hiring practices discriminated against minorities. Therefore, the City's hands are tied because of the Federal Government, not because of a decision/policy made by the City of New York.

The 16 minute response very well may have been the best effort, given that at approximately 2AM, volunteer members would need to wake up, get dressed, scrape off the windshield, then drive to headquarters, or the scene, in snow and ice.
For what it's worth, google maps indicates it's roughly 3.4 miles and 6 minutes travel time from the firehouse to the location,(provided I have the addresses right) and we don't really know what the weather and road conditions were like for those responding to the firehouse and then to the scene at that time of day.
Having 24 hr emergency responder staffing could have cut the initial arrival time by 10 minutes, but then we have the water supply, or more realistically lack of water supply, which is altogether another issue that needs to be addressed.
I totally agree with the assessment that consolidation and regionalization is needed in many geographical areas.

Tell some of those things to guys who are losing someone off the back step...or struggling to maintain safe staffing levels. I'd rather have my tax dollars go to that then Banks, Bangledesh, India, Pakistan, Russia, South Korea, Ethiopa and the plethra of other countries we give aid to. Not for nothing..but I'd rather have my kid is a 20 kid classroom then a 35 to 40. And oh by the way...what we were doing...hasn't worked...not with Bush..or Obama up to this point. We bailed out the automotive industry...and wah..so the funding dries up...if your local officials had brains they would be able to work with that which is the way it should be...eased into the system...to OMG...better services..what a travesty. Pick up the phone and call 911 or have your kid test scores drop..and I bet some of you would be on the phone crying to someone with that too. Keep watching CNN and Fox news...I am quite saddened it took me this long to start looking into different sources to find out things in a non slanted way.

I believe it gets auctioned when it's time is done. Paramedics from the Dignitary Protection Unit of FDNY staff 001 and 002. 001 and 002 contain safety features to protect( lets just say it starts at being bullet proof) other than that I doubt FDNY would want that information released haha.
The following is copied verbatim from this topic on the nycfire.net forums, I attached a link referencing the thread.
"There were two dedicated DPU units in the city. Ambulance 001 and 002. 001 being for the president and 2 for everyone else. However they do use standard buses when needed.
For the most part you will get two FDNY Medics who are DPU trained. During the UN GA you sometimes will get EMS officers riding with a Medic."
