If you guys have room, have a small foam system would cut down use of the engines. Say 69-51 is O/S of a car accident, and the car involved catches fire, drag a line and use the foam system to extinguish the fire.

Dover (JHK) is taking delivery of a new E-One Engine and a tanker later this year, not sure of the models but I'll get some more information.

Been real busy with work and the FD, I'll see what I can do as far as some photos, it is the 147" Paraliner Lifeline.

My bad. It's a 147" Paraliner per Lifeline's website. Didn't know they only made the E-450's for 158" and longer....good to know, thanks.
I'm just surpised it's not 4x4, and that MarkMets415 hasn't posted more photos yet.

I don't care for raised roof rigs. The flat roof'd Pierce Lances that have become popular in the mid Atlantic I like a lot. Super short wheelbase, basic engine company compartmentation, flat roof.
It's been a while since I've packed up in the back, but I'll tell you honestly that if being able to stand up is a priority while your heading out the road to a working job with the radio squaking then I'm not sure that you are focused on the right things. The only time you should need to stand is when your feet hit the curb. The busiest FD's in the world have done without raised roof cabs for a century. Not sure why we'd spend money on them now.

They are a complete waste of money. A true measure of your worth is not some BS Chinese junk trophy 5 feet tall, its hearing from neighboring FD's that you get $hit done, wether you have 5 guys or 15 at a fire. I haven't been to a parade in probably 15 years, sure they are fun, but if your tax payers knew that you spent 3k between the band, the food and the diesel and gas to get there, you think they would be happy? Sure kids like them, but I bet your neighbor would like those 10-20 people spending a nice sat afternoon at the emergency they called in instead. And I hardly think that the 10 kegs of beer is hurting anyone financially at these events, not when they budget in the tens of thousands to host them.

Having just completed our annual refresher on ice rescue this past Saturday I'll add what our discussion about the risks led to. Generally speaking with the proper training and maintenance of the equipment, the greatest risk of a surface ice/water rescue was the Code 3 response getting there. Using full Ice Commander Suits, helmets and 'creepers" as needed and operating in a safe manner consistent with the training and SOG's, the risks to the rescuers is pretty low. This is one area where the proper PPE really can have a huge impact on the risk.

On christmas eve this imposter signed on the air for a chimney fire as a DC from 1 community (warren car 2) which is 3 towns away from the actual incident town (Morris) and he "arrived on scene and said nothing showing cancel everyone" yet the caller stated fire and smoke in the house and the Morris chief (car 1) showed up and concurred that they indeed had actual incident going on, no clue if this imposter was ever actually on scene of just talking outta his you know what, what's freighting is what is this guys intentions? Is he seeing how the fd/ems responds to catch us off guard one day and pull some stunt or what.

OFPC puts on a great Ice Rescue class thru the full time instructors they have that travel around the state. It's free, all you need to do is contact OFPC. Great class.

I can't speak to why the departments in your area don't have the equipment, but ice rescue is a form of technical rescue and many departments aren't adequately equipped and trained for technical rescue.
Ice rescue can easily be a high risk event, but with the proper training, equipment and adequate personnel that risk can be minimized, just like firefighting. To do it properly requires more than just "basic training".

The Blue Beast performed well at it's first few structure fire runs, the first being a mutual aide call last Wednesday (12/18/13) to Millbrook FD to actress Bette Midler's residence for a 20'x20' maintenance building fire, the driveway was off of one of our several dirt roads we have, the driveway was over a mile long, plowed but not sanded, the beast with 4x4 made the driveway with ease, unfortunately the structure was already fully on the ground and was extinguished.
The second fire was in our own district the next morning (12/19/13) at the Pine's restaurant located on Route 22, from all accounts the CAFS worked well and the main body of fire was knocked down, the many roof overs created some issues and JHK (x129k was the vent man) assisted with opening the roof with 36-45 to get into the several voids. We have several photos of the actual fire however out of respect for the owner's of the business we decided that we would not advocate nor support the posting of their building on fire. Upon arrival there was heavy fire showing on the A and D sides of the building and several tankers were called in as the nearest usable water source was approximately one mile away at the Pawling Corporation complex where JHK Engine 36-13 set-up at a hydrant to fill the tankers.
Our tanker (69-31) and Blue Beast (69-12) on scene flowing water

I agree, I worked for a Pierce dealership for several years. It wasn't uncommon to see new rigs being sent back multiple times by the departments that purchased them due to problems that needed to be corrected (some were major problems). Although many in the fire service consider Pierce to be head and tails above the rest it's not the case, no manufacturer of fire apparatus is problem free.

Our chief driver is the main guy that trains you on driving apparatus, pumping, etc. he tells the chief it you are ready to drive calls or not, after you have done pump ops, EVOC class, etc.
