The warning light that the Tip-Up Bar is up is a great idea. I like the car, not overly done - good luck with it!

Maul is not a tool in the South...it's a contraction as in "If you track those dirty boots across the carpet, Maw'll kill you."

What if the pending call was another lift assist? Which would you choose to go to?

I don't personally care who does the lift assist. I have done lift assists as both an EMS and FD provider. What I am curious about is why EMS agencies request FD's for lifting assistance without first retoning their own agency/department. Why? Is it possible that agencies do not have 1 or 2 extra hands not already on the call?

So.... We should leave the elderly woman who's incapacitated on her bedroom floor there to rot? Where do you volley/work? I want to make sure I don't have family that lives there.

If you want to apply to Empress, go to www.empressems.com and fill out the application, but you MUST then follow it up with a phone call to ext 3109 at the 888 965 5040# during business hours. Yes they are hiring, usually in groups of about 10, about every 3 weeks. There has been much hiring lately, to fill spots created by expansion into WMC. And there are always folks who don't work out when you hire a lot, so some spots need to be re-filled! They do get lots of apps, so the phone call is a must. Medic class will be graduating soon, so the medic students will be precepting, so their old EMT shifts will need to be filled. Good luck.

You hit some excellent points with this post... Hazmat and Technical rescue are very training intensive disciplines. What is good about the county teams is that they draw from the manpower "pools" around the county and take the people with the drive and desire to excel.

I believe the county gators are housed at DES. Individual departments may have them but the county operated ones are at DES only.

Canton is in New York State's Northern tier, like between the Adirondacks and the Canadian border. Close to Potsdam, Ogdensburg

My husband is a "Tier 2" and it changed a few years back to "55 with at least 30 years".
Fire Commissioners control the LOSAP program. The State DOES have some say in it - the now required yearly audit MUST contain an audit of the LOSAP program also. I happen to be the LOSAP administrator for our Fire District - and if any District is "under-funded", then shame on them. Everyone should be receiving annual reports from the company who handles their program.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victims, the Larchmont Police Department who lost thier Captain and friend and all the responders who were at the horrific incident.
Guys if you were at the fire don't be scared to go to a debriefing. Don't leave the pain locked inside.
