Or, it could be the FD that bought a unnecessarily large and expensive vehicle and now the fire commission is disagreeing with that purchase. (Note I am not saying this is the case, only potentially the fire commissions point of view.)
Its all a matter of prospective.

Overweight or not.....this isn't a city bus or oil delivery truck, ect, that's riding up and down the roads all day everyday. It's an emergency vehicle and it can't possibly be out often enough to do regular and permanent damage. This seems like a silly fight....
Although.....maybe they'd get under the weight limit if they shaved off a few air horns.......

So 702, a single axle rescue wagon, weighs more than 701, a tandem axle pumper tanker with 3000 gallons of water (25,000lb) on board????

It'd be cool to see this used for fire service....sadly it'll mostly be a garbage truck.

The apparatus news page on Eli's site (10-75.net) suggests a 100' rear mount Ferrara platform for East Fishkill. No such beast is shown on Ferrara's "In Production" page as of yet, however.
Updates for Orange Co.: Washington Heights' rescue due in August since switching to Ferrara, and Mechanicstown's Seagrave engine (which I am now told will replace 125, rather than 118) is due in late May.
Still no word on Pine Bush or Sparrowbush's bids.

Washington Heights (Orange) has placed an order for a medium duty Ferrara rescue to be built on a 4-door Freightliner chassis. Expected delivery in October.

It's really not difficult at all to spot an unmarked car these days. Buying all new $40,000 vehicles or however much they are at taxpayer expense just so they can sit a couple inches higher is a complete waste of money and one of the dumbest things I've heard of since being apart of this site.
