Well the wait is over Finally got a chance to get pictures of the new FLA 3 It's one of 2 totally new units Built by PL Custom  2nd one is assigned to FLA 4  The 3 rd unit will be a remount of  FLA1's box on to a Ford F450 4WD Chassis   FLA 3 & 4 Feature White out privaticy window treatments new warning light set up plus Push Bar strip LED warning lighting These units mark a return to Pick up truck style chassised units since the late 70's when they operated 3 Chevy chassised  units

Los Angeles City is currently all tillers.  They used various snorkel products (squirt, telesquirt, and snorkels in 50ft & 85ft) back in the 60's & 70's in addition to the tillers.  Also LAFD occasionally demos other ladders and so far prefers their tillers.
 
Los Angeles County is currently mostly tiller quints but have one or two front line rear mount quints.  They have had an assortment of ladders types over the years with some coming from their acquisition of other fire districts.

Seems virtually (if not every) picture I see of an LA ladder company is a tiller. Do they run anything else? Any tower ladders, rear mounts or straight sticks?

"Plug Buggy" is basically a utility for the station, and serves a variety of purposes.
 

According to Facebook it is the 6th, I doubt they would do it on a Wednesday.

Plattekill (Ulster) will soon be adding to their fleet, if they haven't already, a Pierce Arrow XT PUC rescue pumper that was a former demo model.  

Any pics of Thornwood new engine? 

Definitely interesting, especially with the tandem axle on the Ford F550. Never seen something like that before.

I was a bit skeptical when the Ascendant was first introduced (as a single axle, 107' stick), but after looking into it I saw that there are definitely department out there that can use it, whether you're in a tight urban district or have a hilly suburban district with narrow roads.  The 110' ladder tower on a single axle has me skeptical at the moment, but I'm sure it would work for some department out there.

 
Pierce has added a 110' single axle rearmount tower ladder to the Ascendant line of aerials.

.The response of the FDNY small boat to Rye illustrates what some think is one of the great weaknesses in Westchester fire protection is along the Sound Shore where fire fighting capabilities are shaky to .non existent. From the Bronx line to Connecticut there are billions of dollars of boats, marine facilities and shore front properties yet there is little meaningful  fire protection.

I really like that Jersey City Enforcer, and that Ascendant seems to be set up nicely. Miami looks very traditional and classy, and that blacked out ladder truck is very unique and sharp.

A few others that were getting ready on the blue floor or in production (not sure if they will be at the show).

I was out at Pierce this past week and several new version of the Ascendant were getting ready for the trip to Indy. The only one that I saw up close was a tandem version of the 107' that has become so popular. The truck is very similar to the single, but with a more traditional body found on the present 105' ladders. Essentially, you are increasing body and ground ladder storage and also improving weight distribution and braking.
 
I was told that there is also supposed to be tractor-drawn version somewhere in production or perhaps will make an appearance at the show (I did not see it anywhere on the line).
 
Outside of the Ascendant configurations, they should have their usual run of equipment on display inside the Lucas dome and also a separate Contender section.

Apparently, there will be a Mexico-based fire truck manufacturer displaying this year. I've never heard of them until seeing the ad in Fire Engineering this evening.

-Pierce Introduces several new configurations for the Ascendant Aerial
-We find  out more about Spartan ERV and Smeal, and what product lines will be affected
-Rosenbauer Avenger positive feedback
-Scott Safety introduces innovative or a bunch of innovative items
-Sutphen 100' Rear Mount with no tank or pump
-E-One new cab option?
-Ferrara brings it's first tiller from Ashburn VA to display
-Seagrave?
-KME?
 
If anyone from here goes please report back!  Wish I was going to report myself, but maybe next year.
