Here is a badge that I made up. Feel free to use it if you wish. Sorry about the poor resolution...

The top priority is to leave with the same amount of people you came with. The worst thing that can happen is have a life is taken- or a someone is critically injured.
It seems like the calls have calmed down, although many departments are going to "odor in the area" calls, not shocking.

Somers operated at a large one yesterday too.. Was about 3-5 acres, with treetops on fire too. They made a fire line through out the process, they remained o/s until about 19:30 approx. Was a job well done by all who were involved (especially the first IC before chief took over, that was a very well done job) anyways, Continental Village just got toned out- very dry land where it was reported- there is a red flag warning out and remaining out... Hope all remain safe..

I think it'd be easier to discuss or update on any brush fire that is happening in the area, on this thread instead of on the Shout box...
I know that Ridge is fighting a massive brush fire right now, anyone with additional info feel free to fill us in..

I'm attempting to post a photo, taken before sundown this date, which shows a wide, dense plume of smoke from a brush fire in Rockland County. The plume is lifting a little and heading about east by northeast across the Hudson towards northwestern Westchester , apparently causing numerous good intent reports in Croton, Buchanan, Montrose, and Yorktown. (I guess from Peekskill you can see the cause as they haven't had many calls.)
    Photo taken from Maryknoll....

Anyone know the status of Rockland's fire? Northern Westchester was getting many "outside smoke odor" calls.

I am one of the physician consultants to Divers Alert Network. I have training in Wilderness/Expedition Medicine. While I am in Annapolis, Maryland, I used to serve as a volunteer on the Larchmont Volunteer Ambulance Service (I think it may have been in the days of the horse-drawn equipment)

Clicking on a link in a post used to open the new content in a separate browser window(tab).
It's a pain you-know-where, because now you have to navigate back to the site rather than just closing the new window(tab) when you're done there.
And as already mentioned, opening any topic takes you to the first post in the thread, rather than the page where the reader's last-read post was.

I went to fix one thing, and broke ten other things.
I am aware of the issues being experienced, and am trying to get them fixed but do not have a timeframe.

Exactly what I was thinking, although that point may be true on some cases, others it's not. My computers run great on the site, not a change in loading time or anything. Your points in this posts are very well said, and I am glad that it's " up to date" instead of an old, out of date, half working site, like some I have seen.
I personally like the new look, it could use some little changes, but all in all I have no complaints.
Good luck in the future with it.

Usually, after an upgrade, the posting levels drop as everyone learns how to use the new software. I was concerned about the posting stats because I was making sure there was no bug.
The reason for the upgrade was because the old software was at it's "end of life", meaning it is obsolete and is no longer supported. I held out as long as possible. The new software is also required to keep up with modern internet technology.
Let me ask this though....if you don't know the reason for the upgrade, how can you say it was uneccesary?
I'm sorry to hear that. I've heard from many that the site is running faster and loading faster, and my server stats seem to support that. I am still making ajustments to increase the performance. Speed can also be influenced by your computer, your browser, your connection, your ISP, etc and have nothing to do with this site.
Not happening. Sometimes, change is inevitable and needed. Just like the firefighters who got upset that the motorized engine replaced the horses. As much as they didn't like it, it happened and it was for the better as they later realized.
Now, to other members, I am working on any bugs or changes you may have. If you have a technical issue or need help using the site, please post. Opinions or commentary aren't neccesary or wanted at this point. I want to know the issues that need fixing and explaining any features or how to use the forum.

Hands down, I am not a fan of this upgrade as it stands currently. As mentioned above, everything is significantly slower and harder to use. It doesn't surprise me in the least that posting has decreased to the lowest levels I have seen since I first joined.
I do not know the reason for the upgrade but let me say this, I think it was unnecessary and so far has detracted significantly the quality of this site in my opinion.
It has become a real pain to post and view this site, to the point where I have stopped doing it at all except during my slowest hours.
Bring back the old pre-upgrade site.

Good afternoon all, I have a Whelen Cencom gold controller unit in my vehicle. I have the progam disc and the usb-b to usb-a cable hooked up. When I go to extract the current settings inside the control unit to the computer so I can change the settings the computer says "Unable to communicate with device" I have tried a different cable, different laptop, doing it while the unit was on, when its off, and rebooting the software while connected. I have totally run out of options, Can anyone shed some light and hopefully help me program this damm thing? Any help would be appreciated.

Just like Ed said, many of us our very fond of the old "doghouse" design. When the switch to fully enclosed apparatus began during the late 1970s through the 1990s, engines were primarily located between the jumps seats and were the norm for both canopy and enclosed cab-forward fire trucks. They were available in both fixed cab and tilt-cab (full or split) designs for engine access.
During the 1980s custom cab manufacturers began to offer the placement of the engine forward in the driver / officer portion of the cab. This desgin was actually around for a long time and offered througth the Mack MC /MR, Ford C and other style cab and chassis. The push by fire apparatus manufactures was to be able to offer more room and increased passenger numbers and also "better access" for mechanics under the hood. Hence the creation of those 10-man model cabs offered by the likes of Pierce, E-One, Sutphen, Spartan, ect.

The above photo I found interesting when I saw it in the ladder, it has the engine right to the right of the seat, and then a small seat "packed" in there... I have never seen that before in a ladder. Very interesting...
