Man could he play that Hamond organ! Truly a legend that will be missed!
    "Feel it coming
    It's knocking at the door
You know it's no good running
    It's not against the law
    The point of no return
And now you know the score
    And now you're learning
What's knockin' at your back door "

Just a question with the different color coats, is that the company officer or the ladder company members wearing the tan coats? I figured its for ID purposes.

Probably my favorite DP tune. They've got a long list of great music, those that only know Smoke on the Water are missing out.

Last night the New London City council failed to vote on the tentative agreement that was negotiated in good faith by both Local 1522 and the city. Again the measure was tabled by the council for a later date. With this, the mayor announced last night at city hall all 25 firefighters, 1/3 of the department, would be laid off effective at 5:30pm today. This includes their newest hire all the way to a member who has 14 years on the job.
Many firefighters were there in support of the brothers with representation from many of the CT IAFF locals. Once again public safety is a pawn to politics.

FDNL runs 3 engines, 2 trucks, 2 BLS ambulances and a BC over four shifts with a current manning of 16 per shift.

You know, I looked at the tag Seth put on his post; "Haters are my motivators." Had to think about that one for a while. Then I remembered something. A Facebook Group. "I Hate EMTBravo." Had to look and saw the page had 169 "likes."
I wonder how those people feel now. If they feel anything at all that is.
I wonder what motivates people to hate. You think those people who took a Facebook page and turned it into a page of hate, you think that didn't hurt Seth? For the "sin" of having created a space for all of us to convene and talk about the jobs we have/had?
There should be no room in emergency services for hate. We're all supposed to be in the service of the people. Common cause.
Now that we can all see what the man has been through, I hope a lot of those haters are doing some soul searching. And regretting.

Please refer to the flag by its proper name only, Gadsden flag. I has so much more meaning than being adopted by a political movement in modern times.
Also the Navy Jack version is the rattlesnake and the wording over thirteen alternating red and white stripes. It was originally flown only on the oldest active wartime ship in service. This was changed to all navy ships to fly it after 9/11.

I don't think that Chief Flynn hates volunteers necessarily.
I believe that he expects firefighters and fire departments to be responsible and accountable for their actions. I think he doesn't think that we should accept BS excuses why volunteer agencies shouldn't be held to high standard of professionalism. I think he believes that fire departments should have a certain degree of transparency to the citizens they protect. I think he believes that firefighters should be properly trained and equipped to do the job and should be willing to do ALL of the parts of their job, not just the glamorous parts.
    And I think I agree.

SteveOFD is right, too many people out there are pushing themselves as "radio techs" and giving out false information. Make sure yo speak with a reputable radio company if you need to become compliant.

I feel bad for the officer being injured in this attack. I hope he recovers quickly and I'm glad he did what was necessary to prevent this person from hurting anyone else. He did his job! Too often police officers get criticized for their actions when they are justified.

Operated many trucks with Detroits and Cummins. I prefer Detroit but both are good engines.
Now if Waukesha started making engines for fire trucks again..........

So this guy quits the company, which is the organization that provides and sponsors fire protection services to the village / district and is upset that he can't be a firefighter anymore in the village. HE QUIT! Plain and simple, its like quitting a job, you can't continue to work there if your not part / employed but the organization that provides a service. He is not covered by the insurance anymore. Its not a hard thing to figure out. He took that step and he's out. Even if there was no "company" structure, if he quits the department he's no longer a member as an active firefighter.
By reading this article, which by the way has holes large enough to drive the Super Pumper through it, he should have not quit in my opinion, should have stood his ground with the complaint he lodged while a member of the organization. Granted I don't know any of what is going on except by this article, there may be good reasons why he left. The harassment stated is very vague and obviously for his protection that things are not being let out.
If he is a good a firefighter as you all say he is, I hope there is some justice for him. And maybe he can rejoin or go somewhere else. However, there are three sides to every story. We'll have to wait an see how this pans out.
