What if the politics is compelling you to do it wrong and you're not able to implement change to do it right? Do you suck it up and do it wrong or do you take a stand and adhere to your ethics and morals?Good question and not knowing what happened it is hard to answer but you take a stand to make it right first. Maybe they did and go nowhere. But at the end of the day it's the public who suffers.

The article doesn't say much as to what exactly was going on but I do not condone quitting because of politics we are here to serve the people and have to look beyond the politics and do what is right.

33 minutes ago, Viper said:I was referencing something I had heard that WCDES is developing FAST requirements for departments. This includes leadership, initial training, ongoing minimum response levels and equipment. Similar to the definitions of the CAD Valid Unit Designations.
For example, if this were to come to be, how would WCDES be able to monitor the department for compliance, and if they didn't comply, what would be that action? Would 60 Control take them off the run card as FAST? Even if a Chief requested that departments FAST specifically?
Been out of the training loop for a while but if I remember correctly training requirements for volunteer departments are a home rule issue unlike career departments so I don't believe DES can make requirements ( unless something has changed) for volunteer departments and I remember when I was a chief this topic came up there was concern from some chiefs in the county about the training level of FAST members responding to a FAST request but again with home rule it is a tough topic

The city shows no respect to NYPD.
This is the problem they are paid beans compared to other jobs outside the city the legislature voted themselves a 32% raise what bullets do they take there have been 4 cops in NYPD shot in the last few weeks my son is a cop in the projects where there are a lot of drugs and guns the money needs to be up there like other jobs

It is a pathetic shame that these members have to operate using old and damaged equipment. The United States gives billions away to foreign countries many like Iran who have no use for us yet fire departments have to beg or compete for grants to get funding. And the same goes for EMS many VAC's operate with old equipment. I

When I joined Pleasantville FD in 1980 they had an American Lafrance ladder truck still in service I am not totally sure on the year but I believe it was a late 1940 open cab 75' stick.

My guess is you will Andy run in the next election. And though I am not a Hiliary fan by any means she seems to wiggle out of everything so I don't see her going anywhere.

Thank you NFD for posting this and as the proud father of a New York City Police Officer who works in the projects where there is no shortage of drugs and guns as well as hateful, devious people who hate cops and people who have no regard for the law and won't think twice about hurting or killing a cop.
