Horrific scene haunts first responders
For Ray Corbo, first assistant fire chief at Newtown Hook & Ladder, the horrific images from Friday’s shooting rampage have taken a toll.
There was the Newtown police officer who ran by him in the school’s parking lot, carrying a boy, limp in his arms.
“The police officer’s uniform had blood all over it,” Corbo said.
There were the teachers who, despite the chaos, kept order as they led their students away from the school building to the Sandy Hook firehouse.
Please keep those responders from the dispatchers that took the call to the police officers, firefighters, EMS & medical examiners in your thoughts and prayers.

Some discussions have been about putting a LEO in each school - who pays for it? In the end we do. I suggest get our soldiers out of other countries that do nothing but kill them dozens at a time and station one in each school.
Better yet do more to care for and determine mentally ill people.
JMO
Now on a different note, I hope a fund is established to provide years of mental health counseling for everyone in the school. It's really scary to think of how things can turn out 10 - 15 years from now.

Very sad day 18 Children & 9 adults dead several injured in a Elementary school WFT???
Edit 16:50: Updated total is 20 Children & 6 Adults and the shooter (who apparently took his own life) at the school. 1 offsite at a separate location.
Words and prayers could do little for the families and the responder's who are are suffering.
I hope that the responder's accept the help that will be provided, we need you to get through this.
I will pray for them.

I have driven apparatus with the "beeping or voice" devices and tend to find them annoying and they are not that accurate. I prefer when I don't have a spotter to have the camera so I can see whats there.

Sorry to go off topic but why wouldn't you want to be trained in at least CPR???? You may need it on a family member or friend.

Modern technology has developed Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) that is widely used for dispatching emergencies. Iit is based on several modules that work together that help you set up your basic alarms and more. It is common knowledge for people that work on CAD's that most are under utilized. There are many things that can be programed too including building information to hydrant location to equipment availability.
It takes people to contact their dispatch centers and ask what can be done and then to gather accurate information to be entered....and ....keep it regulary updated.
Maybe some dispatchers or people that work with CAD's can discuss what type of things are available.

When defibrilation first became allowed for basics my ambulance service in Beacon had defoliators with 2 lead EKG screens. In fact as part of becoming an EMT-D you had to learn several rhythms. Then with technology & time they phased out those units to what we have available today "Dummy Box's" which anyone can use.

This $200 iPhone Case Is An FDA-Approved EKG Machine
Most iPhone cases just protect your phone from drops. If you’re getting fancy, it may have a fisheye camera lens or a screen-printed back. But what about diagnosing coronary heart disease, arrhythmia, or congenital heart defects? The AliveCor Heart Monitor is an FDA-approved iPhone case that can be held in your hands (or dramatically pressed against your chest) to produce an EKG/ECG--the infamous green blips pulsing patient-side in hospitals everywhere.
“We think that EKG screening can be as approachable as taking blood pressure,” AliveCor President and CEO Judy Wade tells Co.Design.
Very interesting next it will be able to defibrillat you too.

Newburgh police try to talk barricaded subject out of house.
Police have closed down Liberty Street after a man wanted on attempted murder charges refused to come out of his house.
Gofford Lembhard, the older brother of Michael Lembhard, who was killed in March during a confrontation with police, is barricaded in a two-story brick house, between Henry and Courtney Avenue.
There are several other people in the residence with Lembhard. It is not known whether they are hostages.

Next we will see a HBO documentary on professional homeless people who take to the street begging for money by day and living normally by night. A way to live a tax free life.

I'm sorry, I very rarley ever go to the city basicly never but I would not spend $100 on boots for a homeless person I would buy something cheaper just to cover his feet knowing that the guy could be robbed or sell the expensive boots.
Just my honest opinion
I do believe that the officer did a good thing for his gift. too bad the guy prefers to be barefoot
