  4. Anybody that has worked with the old Maxim's will tell you that these were the best ladder's around second to Seagrave. The ladder in the picture above is around a 1972 or so. manual screw jacks No computer's and safety's just jackknife the unit swing out the down rigger and turn the screw to lower the jack and your on your way.
  5. PJ: Define Tactics for people in this area that may not understand the word.
  6. I would like to thank the LCC for his driving skills, It's nice to see the extra effort before crying i can't get the truck in Chief.
  7. Not to date myself but back in about 1998 I knew a fireman from Freeport The Truck Company AKA (the dead end kids)who invited me to a muster event and Freeport won the competition that weekend. There was a great parade also. I could sware that this was the same location in the video. I'm not from Long Island but i remember when i was watching the events the airport was kinda behind the location of the muster. Does anybody know if in fact this place is the same and is still used today.
  8. Speaking of the long Island show that was not worth the 13 bucks they better step it up next year. The hooters didn't fare much better.
  9. A bunch of us went last year. The best part of the show was Depford New Jersery's Rescue then of course the 7 hr stay at Hooters.
  10. The city of Stamford fire Dept. responded to 9,200 and change. This is Fire and EMS Im not sure how many calls each volunteer company's did.
  11. I protect my assets with a Connecticut Permit to carry. I hold a few Insurance policy's in my house. You have the Glock Protection, The Smith & Wesson policy and the extended coverage for the bedroom the shotgun. There is more insurance in the safe. You can't carry enough Insurance these day's.
  12. I'm not on the job in Bridgeport CT but I saw on another website that Bridgeport has them in some pictures i saw. We have the most vacants in our city in a long long time i wonder if these will pop up in Stamford soon. Anybody from BFD might be able to confirm these systems.
  13. I thought i just saw him in the southend doing a ditch job he's ok!!
  14. Remember keep your tools clean and stop painting the working ends of the tools!!
  15. That's for the rack storage. Also take into consideration if the sprinkler riser shares the same riser as the standpipe. Take notice of the standpipe hose connection in the store also the type of standpipe class1 or class2 go to the tool section and grab a walking ruler and measure how far from the hose outlet to the furthest point you may find it better to strech a 2.5 from your rig and forget the standpipe hose connection in these "wide-rises"
  16. This photo was taken by me Mark Kuhar on August 5 2008. The fire was located on Cat Rock Road in Greenwich Connecticut.
  17. Guys get used to wearing the seat belts apparatus made starting in 2009 will have a built in device similar to the black box concept. It will tell investigators if at the time of the crash if each firefighter was wearing the seat belt. Now we all know what happens when the blame game starts.. insurance benifits may be in question if it is proven that an injury was the result of no belts at the time . Seat belts have improved being a different color now and the receivers are a lot longer to accomidate all the "stuff" we have around the waist bunker pants/Harness, radio, bulky pockets etc. In my department the officer and or the driver will not move the apparatus untill everbody is belted. I was like everbody else when this was enforced grunting and bitchin but after a few calls it was second nature. A metro fire dept just up I-95 was involved in a truck vs passenger car accident with civillan fatility. NO firefighters were serousily injured during the incident because of the belts. Also no helmets will be worn in the apparatus starting 2009??. I will guess in the future the SCBA will also be removed from the cab.
  18. That's gonna be a nice engine. I like the rear of the rig i have not seen that before. What does the deck gun flow cause that's one big --- pipe supplying it.
  19. If you need help throwing a simple 24' ground ladder go back to working for the post office or go to ladder school. These guys in PG county have their stuff together, They would run circles around some depts up here. Stop looking at pictures and busting on guys who dont have their gloves on while the photo is being taken... which snaps at about a freakin milli second im sure they put their gloves on.. just cause their not connected to their wristlets like in grade school does not mean they didn't use them. The truck is bustin a move here, Sometimes I think up here in the great north our heads are thinking about chin straps and tools tied down on the rig then thinking about throwing ladders and making an aggresive search in a Timely manner these guys are working and THINKING on their own at that moment in time. Belive me these guys are well skillled VOLUNTEER FIREMAN injurys and or worse are little to none down there and they see way more work than most of us in these parts.
  20. The machines that were on scene are now experiencing mechnical breakdowns as of yesterday??. I was working the night of the fire but that engine never made it down to the fire. I don't know anything about the machine's in question just rumors while working yesterday, Maybe one of my co-workers can tell us what's happening to the machines. I just hope the firefighters and the police are gonna be ok down the road.
  21. I was there myself with my 10 month old son he liked the truck as well. I only saw chris C. and another guy that i recognized from when i was a member. I sure miss the place. I bought a anniversary T-shirt and i wanted the wetdown shirt but i didn't have enough $$. Are the wetdown T-shirts still avaible those are sharp. What size motor is in the truck.
  22. When guys shoot these on scene photos. before posting them on the world wide web you need to blurr out plates and blurr out any patient photos that might reveil their Identity.
