Arlington will be near the 14th of November. It does take time to get in there, and there will be a lot of folks there. I should of said that potus should have been at wake and memorial....

I am lucky to serve with the Sgt. Major's brother in law Jack Conatay @ Horry County Fire Rescue In Myrtle Beach. What I can't understand is that our President & commander and chief did not attend the funeral @ Arlington....Maybe he had an early TEE TIME! Semper Fidelis Sgt. Major Gallagher...

I think there are inter-municipal agreements between NYSP & CSP and Armonk Fire and GFD. I believe there have been incidents when vehicles have left the roadway and Ct. units have been involved with rescue or investigation...

NYC has 25 year retirement for dispatchers and ems. I don't know of any other city or county in NY State that has same retirement. That was for a Tier 4 or earlier. I'm not sure about Tier 5 and 6.

Kings College fire. No hydrants close. Chappaqua and Croton FD"s drafted from pond. We dropped it about a foot with several hundred thousand gallons used. No big deal! It was the day of the county parade and most departments would rather be there than at a parade! We had limited mutual aid and everybody worked together. THE GOOD OLD DAY'S!

Since this is my first day of retirement after 20 years @ 60 let me tell you our protocols. EMS dispatch: no answer dispatch again 3 min later. No answer after 2 more min. dispatch again and dispatch mutual aid. Fire: after initial dispatch if no answer after 5 min. dispatch again. If no answer (and it has happened) dispatch again and dispatch mutual aid. Mutual aid run cards have been set up by both ems and fire agencies for their districts. Barry I understand what your saying if dept. x crashes, but what if I don't send anybody to the call in a TIMELY manor! The cad prompts us on all re-dispatchs. The buck does not stop @ 60 Control. It is up to each department whether volunteer or career to cover your calls. The cad will prompt us for the city of New Rochelle or Bedford EMS in the same manor. We run with NYS DOH protocols for ems and NFPA for fire. If you can't cover your call's start thinking about joining forces with your neighbor who is covering the call! Thanx for all you do and please stay safe!

Seth, You left us a long time ago. Please do your homework! A grade 7 (dispatcher) Westchester County when they top out after 6 years makes 55k base. We get an emd stipend, differential around the clock, holiday pay (12 hrs time and a half plus equal time off) work (or are scheduled to work) twelve 12 hour shifts per 28 day cycle. There is also longevity, 35 hour work week, AND LOT'S OF OVERTIME if you want it. Of course you must work nights, weekends and holidays. With a very minimum of overtime (1 hour built in every week), storm coverage and BEING FORCED for that 18 hr. shift you are going to make seventy thousand dollars a year! Many of our chubby (I could use other words) dispatchers will make 80k to 100k this year. There is healthcare for you and your family (no charge @ this time??), a 457b plan (max it out), and decent NYS retirement if your a tier 4 or earlier hire. It's not great, we have been without a contract for over a year, and do deserve at least a cost of living raise (CPI 2.5 % yearly). But when you think about the amount of hours emt's and medics have to work just to survive we do alright! I will be working nights next week and will go in @ 1900 and get off @ 0700...so yeah there are some drawbacks. But with this economy I am happy to be working. And I know a lot of people signed up for the next test. Did you???

60 Control or Department of Emergency Services does not usually make decisions on mutual aid. All agencies EMS and Fire set up their own mutual aid by location in their district. 60 may go to another agency after mutual aid run card is exhausted but the OIC or responding member (if any) is usually notified.
