There were talks of a regionalized dispatch center for the greater Danbury area, however, most of the local fiefdo- I mean towns wanted to maintain local control of their 1 dispatcher per shift...
Besides, the way Danbury went about their process was all wrong. Contract dispatchers are not the answer, civil service employees under a city 911 office would have been much better quality than what they have so far.

Spy shot of the COMPLETED Engine 827 from our Facebook page, it will be back at the station by Friday. I believe it still needs radios, etc.
I am planning on taking some shots this weekend during the dedication ceremony for our Rescue Engine.

Picture quality isn't the best, but here's the latest apparatus update from Morningside VFD down here in Prince George's County, MD.
The refurb of the new-to-us Engine 827 is almost complete. Lettering was completed a few days ago. Still needs the Roto-Ray and the 27 on the grille, but so far she's looking pretty good.

Also, the new-to-us Ambulance 827 has arrived at a shop in Maryland. Its going to need a few months of TLC before its ready for the streets, but we're looking forward to placing this unit in service. Once it's completed, it will be the first time in many years that all of the apparatus in the station are owned by the company.

I understand the nature of some FD's response areas makes POV response necessary, but there are ways to offset the "need" for members to get to the station or scene "hot" in a private vehicle. Chief among these is what volunteer EMS organizations have been doing for years...duty crew staffing. A crew of four in house will get that first rig on the road and on scene with a crew on board prepared and ready to work while the rest of the off-duty members are responding at a reasonble pace, and it will shave minutes off the response time to boot. Add in staffed mutual aid companies and the overriding need for members to speed around town, blue (or red, or green or whatever colored) lights flashing diminishes considerably...even if for only a part of each day.
It's 2015 well into the 21st century....maybe it's time to reevaluate HOW we volunteer as opposed to simply why. And here's one more bonus from a recruiting standpoint: if members know they only have to be available for set hours (where they can train as well), then that will relieve them of having to drop everything for every call and they can schedule the rest of their lives, i.e families, work, hobbies...whatever, while still providing what I truly believe is a higher level of service. A win win in my book.

Why? The guys on the line aren't responsible for the city playing games with a test. And if you think Stamford is the only one that has ever played these games I have a bridge to sell you.

No one, NO ONE is suggesting that we forget thsoe that died in the Civil War. The flag has nothing to do with recent events, however it is a symbol of division and treason and it should NOT fly over a State House. It belongs in history books and museums.
Wanna fly it? Go ahead. But it doesn't belong on State land.

...I thought this was a rational discussion.
The Confederate Flag is a symbol of division. It represents a time that tore this country in half and killed hundreds of thousands of Americans. Ahhh, but whatever, Pride not Predudice right?

    The. End.

    This generates some interesting questions.
Why do NYS DOH BEMS vehicles even have red lights and sirens? Are they authorized emergency vehicles? (This creates an even more interesting question, why?)
Does the State of NY have an EMS agency code and inspect their own vehicles as "emergency ambulance service vehicles"?
Given the inherent danger of roadside stops, why on Earth would a state EMS rep decide to "pull over" another EMS vehicle on the side of the road? Couldn't he follow them to their base or hospital? What was the "emergency"? (I don't think this is an emergency operation under NYS law.)
If someone refuses to pull over for the DOH buff mobile what if anything can be done to them? They're not a peace or police officer are they?

That's right, and by Great Britain, they were. Then we won the war and became a sovereign nation. The end.
I see lots of problems with burning the American Flag. If someone shot the next person they saw doing it, I'd stand up and cheer! However, we have a lot of freedoms in this country, freedom of expression and such. The same freedom allows anyone to fly a Confederate flag loud and proud. The amount of freedom we have in this country means we have to be tolerant of things we don't like.
We can't stand on something like the 2nd Amendment to defend our rights to bear arms, but seek to take away the protections of another amendment. That's pretty contradictory.
I don't often support the Federal Gov't curtailing any individuals rights, even if that means a disgustingly tasteless display, such as desecrating Old Glory.

Look at this fascist cop in his militarized uniform, clearly violating this little girl's rights from the top of his armored tank. I don't see any reasonable explanation why law enforcement needs access to these battlefield vehicles...
Wait, what's that? He's rescuing this girl from her apartment because a murder suspect has barricaded himself in another unit within the building? Oh. Nevermind then.
Incident is still ongoing, LAPD SWAT still evacuating apartment units.

Exactly, in a historical context it can be appropriately displayed.
But to fly it as some kind of middle finger to the north ignores a key rule of warfare that has existed for thousands of years: Winner picks the decor...
