So Empress is implementing APPs or were you referring to the article strictly for the vehicle?
To be honest, i find that the newer expeditions and tahoes are probably too big as a paramedic fly car...unless you're carrying two complete sets of gear. Always seemed like a bunch of empty space to me, and i regularly work in both. Given the recent changes in the special service vehicles offered by some of the leading manufactures, probably not a bad idea to broaden the horizons a bit. At the end of the day every agency has to determine what will work best for them given how and where they operate. Having the option to run something like the charger regularly and something like an expedition / tahoe during inclement weather may be the best option for some parts of the county...but often todays budgets simply don't have that sort of room.
Either way, best of luck with the new vehicles and i hope they safely transport the medics to and from jobs.

I have edited my post due to my unprofessional comment. We all have a job to do and tying up a unit that could be fighting a fire and saving someone else is better served as such. If in anyway my comment caused a ruckis I did not intend on it. We all could learn from mistakes, and each other.

The video games have ratings. No parent should be buying any game with a M (Mature) rating. Its insane. The amount of children on XBOX live is crazy all playing games with M ratings. 8-13 yo playing games like this. Crazy parents need to get their heads examined. When my wife and I met I told her I would never buy a game for my childern with an M-T rating because the game is simply not made for them for a reason. Granted Video game ratings is pretty new. Enough of the video game rant.
To the gun control. I am a firm beliver in making assualt rifles legal and that it might be the only way to get them off the streets. Make them legal and have the owners register them. If I'm not mistaken the ATF has a data base with pistol bullistics markings.

I usually don't make postings like this, and forum rules generally disallows this type of thread, but I took some liberty because these people need to be stopped somehow. They are planning, or at least are claiming to protest at funerals for the Sandy Hook Elementary victims.

I don't know where to start on why the people is this group is worse then scum, and I'm quite suprised they haven't been assinated yet. Yes, I know that these people want media coverage, but they need to be stopped, 1st Amendment rights or not. Ignoring them, including the media, may be the best bet, will only lead them to be more intense.
They push the 1st amendment to the extreme to push messages of extremism hate. This picture says a lot about them and what they do at funerals and do their best to make sure the mourning families see them.

The Chief of Sandy Hook VFD has gone on the CT Fire forum and said that if they require assistance dealing with these people, they will put the word out at the appropriate time. You can be damned sure if that call comes in there will be quite a response from CTs first responders.

I'd also like to recognize the Connecticut State Police again. Since this tragedy, CSP has had Troopers detailed 24/7 as Liaisons to each individual family who has lost a loved one, helping protect them from the vultures in the media and helping out in any other way they can. These men and women are amazing, truly CT's finest.

Since I didn't get this done earlier here's the specs on the rig: 2011 Ford F-350 chasis, 4x4, full Whelen light package along with siren, rear arrow stick with controller, the engine is the new ECOteck desiel engine Ford put out. While the rig is idiling it will shut off when the system is fully charged. Will restart when the rig starts getting low on voltage. Front markers, AM/FM CD player, backup camera, side mounted GPS, electric step for side door entry, full LED ground lights (like on fire trucks). Pt compartment: Demers Box with ducted AC system, floor board heating system, onboard O2 connection above strecher location (makes it easier for medics to use CPAP they don't have to empy their bottles), full led lighting in cabinets and pt care area.

The truck may have been carrying CO2 canisters for bars, resturants. You never know now a days. I remember a lot of talk during my FF1 class about UPS, FedEx and DHL trucks being the worse trucks to catch fire due to not knowing what's on them. Because as we all know people ship some funky stuff now a days.

Photos of some of the apparatus that were in the parade. Fire Departments in the parade were Yorktown Heights, Millwood, Mohegan Lake, Leonia. Yorktown DPW and a few other organizations (including the Lakeland High School State Championship Field Hockey team) also participated. I believe there were a total of 22 participants. There was some pretty dense fog patches at times which caused all the flashing lights to be super saturated.

Hey all on the update. We are awaiting the arrival of our 1st ambulance. It will be here on the 18th of this month. The rig is currently going through its final touch ups. There was a hold back because of lettering and decaling.

9 times out of 10 I have the family sit up front with a seatbelt. If the pt is under the age of 18 I will ask the parent to ride in the back ( nature of call premetting) when parent is in the back I have them sit in the captains seat with a seatbelt on. If the pt is an infant or a toddler parent and pt sit together with belts on.

I wholeheartedly commend my Program Coordinators/ Advisors, for the time and effort you put into this program and Thank my Junior Members for being there... Nice Job, boys!!

While the math may be tough to do. You basicly have said get the number correct or dont do it (in your 1st post) then you say wing it. I did the math for your comparrisons and 10 gallons will work for 650 sq ft of patrolium based products. But if its an alcohol based spill you will need 6 times the foam (AR foam) or it will only cover 108 sq ft. and if its an alcohol based fire you will need 9 times or it will only cover 72 sq ft.. While this sounds like your 10 x rule it does not address if its burning in a tank, because then we need 4.3 times more
Thats 26 and 39 times (not 10 times) more foam if its an alcohol spill or fire.
Your formula for a 10 gallon x the extra 10 (same size as the training fire) or 100 gallons of foam just cost the dept $2,500 Thats kind of overkill (for a 2 bucket petrolium fire) by $2,250 and underkill for an alcohol tank fire. So go back to rule #1.
My whole point is You need to know how much you need before you start and there are a number of factors that calculate into this.
Everyone knows not to start till you have enough, but again if you do not do the math how do you know if you have enough?
And for those who need to bring the water along, you need to maintain 189gpm for 15 min or 2,800 gallons (at 3% foam solution) for the alcohol fire and 812gpm for 15 minutes or 12,000 gallons of water for an alcohol tank fire.
