First off... love this topic, love hydraulics when it comes to GPM, NP, NR.
I see Morningside,MD engine "off the rear" has a 400' 1 3/4" preconnected with a fog nozzle.
Just curious... what kind of pump pressure do you pump, to get the correct nozzle pressure (fog nozzle) on that long lay or on a third/forth floor fire with that small line ???
I have been told by smarter people then me, NO more then six lengths on the 1 3/4 hand line.

on the job liked a post in a topic by M' Ave in Responding to cover
I don't understand why there is opposition to responding in emergency mode to cover. Clearly you shouldn't respond as you would to a 10-75, but you need to get where you're going and quickly. When we relocate to another company to cover, we respond in emergency mode, slow and steady, but lights and siren non the less.
You're relocating to another area because at that moment there is inadequate fire protection there. What good am I to the people in, say Riverdale, if I'm 150 blocks away and a 1st due alarm comes in for fire, or anything else? When return, you drive with traffic.

bad box liked a post in a topic by on the job in How to make room for your Engine at a fire.
Good for the chauffeur...I wish I was driving. Seeing that fire on arrival, minutes count... I cant stand cops that need to park so close... its happened to me many of times.
We block the road ...the cops want to arrest us.

Maybe... we should forward this incident to the CHP officer who arrested the firefighter last week for trying to protect the scene of an MVA.

I support Duracell, and will not buy anything else....they have always supported the fire service thru donations, so we should support them.
Couple years ago Duracell donated a couple cases of batteries (9volt, A ,AAA) to us to give out to anybody in the district that needed them for smoke alarms.
They are also a American company located in CT.
