See you've been a member of this site since 2007, yet I don't see a single incident posted under your account. Why not contribute ?
I used to contribute incident alerts on occasion, but really don't have the time to sit and listen to the scanner for hours on end anymore.
Being that most of these incidents are now instantly posted up on Facebook these days, whats the incentive for users to spend hours listening to an incident rather than spending time with their families or other hobbies just so grateful users like yourself are satisfied ?

I post a few incident alerts, but I generally have a high threshold for what I think is interesting enough to post here. To me that is working fires, or incidents that involve a large amount of resources or contain some sort of unusual circumstance. These days the ones I hear about like that are few and far between.

Summonses are returnable to the Town in which the summons was issued, regardless of the issuing agency.
Unless they start fiddling with those laws, this should not be a big issue.
When a Putnam Sheriff or a Trooper writes a summons now, how is it split with the Town/County/State?
If there is not a current policy, I am sure they can come up with one.
This will only get complicated if the politicians want it to get complicated.

Yea, you are right, "New York State", you have a good point there, it seems the wheels usually come off with the simple things, it will never progress to the complicated issues.

We are still talking about the State of New York, are we not? That's probably something we can all bank on.

Let's not also forget the Triangle Shirtwaist Company Fire. This is also the anniversary of that fire.

I have to ask, why this discussion about a term? is it for dispatch, or what? a pin job is a pin job, some are harder, some take more time, some pop a door go home. I cant see having this discussion except after about 10 beers lol

With this incident I doubt that very much. Seems like you just like to start arguments or bash departments without having the facts. In other topics as well. What FACTS do you have to prove your ridiculous claim that there was "favoritism"? Do you also claim to know all about dispatching and incident command as well? The departments have run cards that specify who they want for mutual aid, and Incident Commanders request specific resources.

6 people lost their lives and others injured and this is what's bothering you? Get over it. Stop with the favoritism nonsense and the boo-hoo why didn't they call X, Y or Z.
Resources were called as needed during what I could only imagine to be a chaotic and overwhelming scene.

It is looking like a targeted shooting. The perp apparently posted his intentions on social media prior to the shooting. It is looking like he took the current "anti-police" rhetoric and acted on it.

Sometimes, when we did not have the exact apartment to ring, or did not want the occupants of a specific apartment knowing we were coming, I would ring them all and if someone asked "who is it?", sometimes I would answer "Burglar" or "Robber". Almost every time, someone would buzz us in.
Quite often, the residents would buzz us in without asking anything.
This even occurred in my plainclothes days and sometimes we were driving rental cars or non-descript vehicles. It was not as if someone heard a buzzer, looked outside, saw uniformed cops and a marked Crown Vic and figured it was OK to let them in.
I have seen this even in some of the better buildings in some of the more upscale areas.
Gaining entry to an apartment building is usually not one of the harder things to accomplish.

Nowhere does the state say this.
The state says "Lowest Responsible Bid". That means the local AHJ has the authority to determine the specification, exemptions, and other requirements. And you get to determine if you will accept anything less or "equal" and you get to determine what is "equal".
If it was a "low bid" only, no dept in NYS would own an Aeroscope as they run about $200,000 more than any other bucket

It has very little to do with parking.
The issue that is more important to most people is convenience.
With that, add a dose of self importance.
I have been dealing with people for the past 33 years. One thing I learned long ago was that anything a member of the public is doing, is exponentially
more important, and more immediate, than anything us mere public servants can possibly be doing.
God forbid anyone would have to walk an extra block, or circle the block once more....

    Could this happen today?
    Yes of course.
All the technology today:GPS monitoring, computer assistance, radar, redundant systems and other "fail safes" can all be rendered useless when one incompetent person, or careless person gets thrown into the mix.
The chances of an "oh-sh*t" incident, over the long haul, is likely in the "probable" category.
Anyone recall the Costa Concordia, the Ocean Liner from Italy?
That was a modern ship with modern navigation aids and see what happened to that ship.

Hey guys here for an update-my father was responding to a full assignment on Monday when he suddenly collapsed. My brothers from WPFD used an AED to bring him back almost immediately. He went in for surgery yesterday and all went well. The doctors expect him to make a full recovery. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.

Bad Box are you a cop? I don't think you are aware of what ESU cops do. They are not patrol cops. They are highly trained cops who can respond to EVERYTHING! As in every major scale emergency. From EDP who is out of control to a jumper hangin from the tallest structure. Bomb scares, hazmat jobs active shooter, terrorist attacks and hostages. The list goes on. They are trained for it all and have the tools to get everyone one of those jobs done. Yes 2 cops ride in that large rig but that rig is met by the smaller ESU trucks and suddenly 6-8 cops are on scene in minutes with a large tool box. If a large scale incident happens this truck will allow extra guys to jump in and gear up. Your post insults law enforcement especially ESU cops who go through one hell of a test to get in that unit and have to be sharp in many aspects of aw enforcement. When a cop is in trouble who do we call? ESU. Who comes after them? No one. There is no one after ESU.

It is a ridiculous rule no matter how you look at it.
No matter what code you come up with, it will be broken or leaked by noon on the first day.
Or the code would be so inconclusive as to be meaningless or so complicated that anyone who needed to use it would be stymied by it.
This memo was put out to make some boss feel good about himself. It is meaningless in the real world.
