Looks like they have some nice new modern apparatus. Did the MTV folks make a nice donation down there?!! Also, did Snooki & J-wow donate some personal flotation devices to the water rescue units??!!

They appear to be a small group of buffs who have taken their hobby to a ridiculous level. I am not aware of them having any official affiliation with any N.Y.C. agency. It seems like these (Police - Fire - E.M.S. - Search & Rescue - Command Post - Scene Lighting, etc. "Fans", Sparks", "Buffs", "Impostors" ...) have found themselves with too much time on their hands and spare cash in their pockets and decided to purchase a large quantity of official looking stuff (radios, lights, vehicles, etc.). They have creatively lettered their somewhat official looking vehicle to look like an F.D.N.Y. SUV and put together a Facebook page and a website full of photos of the same couple of young looking kids standing in the background at various emergency scenes. How long it will take for the N.Y.P.D. or the Fire Marshall's to look below the surface and figure out that they are not on scene in an official capacity and should not be inside Police or Fire Lines ... They seem to be similar to this 'group': My link

Some things I see immediatley off the bat
    1. Additional sets of tools - be it a spare set kept on another rig, or M/A departments
    2. Medevac helicopters, 5 if possible to the scene for the red tags, more on standby if possible, if not additional ALS rigs.
    3. Any MCI resources (ie. trailer or rehab/support vehicle)
    4. HAZ-MAT team notification/response
    5. Another (school or city) bus to the scene, put the green tags on it with 2 or 3 EMTs and you get an instant MERV
Also, I would be doubling up as many rigs as I could, one on the stretcher, one on the fold-out.

While not smaller... didn't Empire Ambulance have a Hummer H2?
Also, I believe Heritage Hills Security/EMS uses Ford Escapes

The new Explorer will, in fact, be bigger than the model it replaces. It will just ride on a more car-like chassis.
The Flex is bigger than the new Explorer, but is lower in terms of ride height and the height of the roof.

Austin, TX FD uses Ford Escape's for their staff Chiefs. The City Of Austin has bought over a hundred, and plans more, and has them in basically every City agency. TXDOT also uses Ford Escapes for their engineeers.

A local security company uses these SMART Cars as patrol vehicles:

Travis County TX Park Rangers (Law Enforcement) use these Toyota Highlanders:

Austin PD Crime Scene ID Division Ford Escape Hybrid (they hate the 2006-ish Escape Hybrid, but love the new ones)

Honestly, I liked the last one more. It was easier to navigate and it was also easier to see all of the deliveries from all of the years so you could see some of the innovations that were put on trucks this year and in years past.

From what I understand the County Sheriff's are a police auxillary extention of the County Police.? In my opinion you would have one county precinct in every town in Westchester. That precinct would cover that town and any village that is within that town. For example one precinct in Eastchester that would cover Eastchester, Tuckahoe and Bronxville etc.....

Here's one of the first Tower Ladders in Dallas. Dallas has been a all Spartan Quality, Spartan Crimson dept. since the early 80's. They've even gone back to Tillers in some parts of the city.

    Why?
If this was true, Harlem, Bed Sty, the South Bronx, etc. would need there own police, not NYPD.

    Members,
We will no longer allow discussion, questioning, or debate here on what color light lenses belong where, what is compliant, etc. Most members don't like seeing these discussions over and over again. It's come to the point where these threads are counterproductive, and don't add anything to this forum. Quite often, they hijack the thread and lead it off course. If you want to read up on these topics, there are numerous to choose from. Just do a search.
Please note, this DOES NOT include discussion of warning devices, technical issues, etc.
    Thanks for your cooperation

My name is Andy Munzing and I live in Cicero Illinois which is just west of Chicago. I am originally from Boston and have buffed both cities since the mid-70's but have slowed down a bit in my older years. My son was a USMC CFR firefighter and served 2 tours in Iraq as well as a tour with a private contractor. I do a lot of posting on NYCFirenet under the same name. Your site seems to consist of many interesting posts, hope to add my 2 cents worth
