    I was issued a plastic helmet....I'm a buff and bought a N5A. Therefor....I now have a REAL helmet.
Kidding aside, why do I have it? Tradition. That's all, they're classic. It does fit quite a bit better than the Morning Pride that the job issues. Sits tighter and lower on the head and doesn't flop around. It is a bit heavy. Oh well.

I would definitely think that staffing is the reason why the Pelham stick was not raised. The fact that 2 guys arrive ( I think that's the # )at a job makes you decide your priorities. #1 forcible entry for the engine company, #2 search of the fire floor for victims and locate the fire for the engine company, #3 search above the fire for victims and vent, and #4 open up. Does not leave a lot of time for the LCC to stick the house. In New Rochelle our assignments are as follows for PD's and multi dwelling ( non high rise ) First due truck, officer and jump seat ff force entry search fire floor, first due chauffeur does a walk around looking for things the IC may need to know ( fire location from outside and victims hanging out windows or who have already jumped ) Second due truck, officer and jump seat ff go to the floor above and search while the second due chauffeur hooks up with the first due chauffeur and ladders the building with ground ladders or the sticks. Third due if needed picks up the slack, opening up, more ground ladders, secondary searches. Pelham is up against it as soon as the bells go off and truly have to "do more with less".

It's a 64 foot SAFEBoat, I liken it to a Coast Guard Rescue Boat on Roids. It's named the Bravest and will replace the Kevin Kane as Marine Company 6. The Kane will be kept as a spare.
Not the greatest shots because of weather and where the boat is moored up. Pump Capacity is 6,000 GPM, the top Monitor is rated for 5,000 GPM. Top Speed of 46 Knots(Over 50 MPH)Enjoy!!
With the Mc Kean and Firefighter behind it.

I am going to attempt to keep my calm on this one, but how selfish, and cowardly do you have to be to do something like this to three innocent children??? I believe in heaven and hell, and there is a special place in hell for Mommy Dearest and a special place in heaven for those poor kids. The mother should have just walked over to the freight line along the water, and taken her own miserable life.

Yesterday, I had the opportunity along with other members of Detroit Box 42, to tour the new Chicago Fire Boat, under construction at Hike Metal, in Wheatley, Ontario (Wheatley is approximately 40 miles south of Detroit on the north shore of Lake Erie) As you will see in the pictures, Hike employees were busy getting ready for delivery of the boat, as it leaves Wheatly for Chicago this coming Friday, April 15th.

We are all entitled to our opinion...and you stated yours very well...and here is my opinion...the board did the right thing. I understand some history is important, however sooner or later they would have to find a way to store it...and that means adding to an existing building, or if they every built a new one added cost to increase the size to store it, or to pay to store it somewhere else. I've seen this happen time and time again. I also for one lose no sleep that there isn't a museum in Westchester for emergency services. Who would run it and what benefit would it have..other then getting some antique apparatus out of some firehouses or to not have the need to use taxpayer dollars to build an area to store them. Most of us need money for equipment and operational things...and sometimes its just not fiscally responsible to spend money on such things at certain times. I hope whoever bought it gives it a good future life wherever that may be.

hey pfd not for nothing, what are you going to ? Fires or a swap meet. cutters, screwdriver and a good knife that can be used with your gloves on are all you need, all that other stuff is gonna make your profile alot wider, which will in turn make it harder to get through wall studs if the need arises, i would advise you to get rid of half the stuff you have, not trying to start an arguement at all, just something that i feel very strongly about

I hope this jack-off gets charged with more than a DUI and unauthorized use.
The fact that a Police Officer was along for the ride is the icing on the cake. Apparently no brains between any of them.
The house that they were drinking at is owned by the (vol) fire company??? Soo, vol FF's can live in this house i presume, to be able to respond to calls. Instead, it sounds as if the house is used more to the tune of a frat house.
    What a disgrace!
