and a brother from my fire company who was on the bus that day, along with an in law of mine from VMFD was there too...... I think, due to the overall operation, its better to thank the entire group involved.
way to be professional with the no sh*t. totally uncalled for.
  2. firemoose827 liked a post in a topic by okcomputer in NY responders to wear body armor to medical calls
This has been a topic of discussion before the bombing. Don't plan on any politicians footing the bill though (ask Hilary or Barack about procuring vests for troops during OIF). I'm all for it. Your safety before anyone else's and certain vests are great against knives and other weapons.
Now it doesn't mean you have to wear it to every call. But if they are kept at the ems hq and taken on the ambulances as needed they could be helpful.

Guess what GTA and COD are sold under the mature ratings title of the ESRB. So a 13 or 14 year old isn't allowed to buy it, yes like everything else it happens but for the most part parents must buy their kids the game.
You can also get weapons training by reading books and going on YouTube. Heck, moby dick is basically a whaling manual.
    Back on topic.
In Austria in the 1930's they elected a man named Adolf who besides socializing healthcare and jobs required that all gun owners register their weapons and were known by the public and police.
I think we all know what started to happen next...

  8. Remember585 liked a post in a topic by okcomputer in Can Westchester Depts. Handle This?
To answer your question Yes they can. Depts work together when mutual aid is needed/a 10-75 is called. You rarely if ever see just one FDNY company on the scene at a fire, so why should it be any different for Westchester.
  9. okcomputer liked a post in a topic by PEMO3 in FD Chief Computers..Is this OK?
While I understand the general reasoning of this thread it really seems to be alot of time being spent on a non-issue. As public servants (paid or volunteer) we spend enough time dealing with the public preception of what we should or should not be doing. e.g. why is that unit sitting on the corner having a soda and a sandwich and not working or why was that engine company just in Stop and Shop picking up groceries. Now along with the general public we have our own questioning why was the screen on that page. The chief was not in the car on the computer neglecting his job to "facebook" so what is the issue. Maybe it was a facebook screen shot screen saver. Is the news that slow that we can't find some real topics.

In reality it shouldn't matter, but it doesn't look good. Would you be bothered if he were on yelp looking up a place to grab something for dinner? Facebook has evolved into more than just social site for keeping up with friends. Does his dept use it for recruiting or some other official purpose?
Personally I wouldn't want the dept knowing what websites I'm looking at so I'm staying off their computer. Otherwise as long as he is doing his job to the standards required does it matter if he takes a few minutes to catch up with his wall posts?

How about this, instead of griping and pointing fingers here, email the chiefs of the departments you are speaking about. You'll get your answer.

"spending money to protect a people we essentially put there" Hmmmm not sure what this means, bc last I checked the US really doesn't kick people out.
Israel is still I believe one of our biggest exporters of military equipment. An argument can be made that they have the, if not some of the best fighter trained pilots both helo and aircraft. Not to mention their infantry and SOG capabilities.
Plus the Saddam, Hamas, Hezbollah, Radical Islamic groups, and the crazies in Iran want Israel wiped off the face of the earth. All because Jews live there. Saddam before his demise would have loved to be known as the next killer of the Jews.
But you have to respect the IDF, they don't mess around, they will even tell you that if you shoot another rocket at them that there will be consequences, and yet when they do retaliate CNN jumps all over them.
If anything Israel is really our one real ally in the region. The Saudi's yeah they use our equipment, but would they come to our aid if we asked for it. I wouldn't hold your breath.
I took a national security class my senior year in college in 2003 and the topic was the Chinese procurement of an aircraft carrier which if anyone has read in the last few months is starting to reach operational level. If they get another one and build there navy up a bit, then you a war over Taiwan, and possibly China invading Vietnam.

HA! LMAO. Is Larry Bremmer around? That was his favorite firefighting appliance!
On another note, the ISO process has awarded them with a rating of 2. This took into place manpower, equipment, water supply and rumor has it several special factors designed specifically for the Sound Shore by Capt. Nechis.... So they should be congratulated because their efforts will most likely have a direct result in insurance premiums paid by property owners and in these economic times even with the wealth in the area, every dollar counts!

They should have fixed spelling...rookie mistake!
I like how it says "We will not stop until Mr Hess is held accountable for killing our beloved DJ." Shut up...your beloved DJ tried to use his car as a weapon and kill or injury our beloved cops (and good friends)!
I understand that this is a hard time for the family and friends of DJ and his death is a tragedy since he is just a kid, but the family and friends of DJ need to move on...cops eliminate deadly force with deadly force. They will not just stand around while their lives or their fellow Officers lives are at risk.
Instead of putting all blame on the cops, blame DJ and his terrible decision to drink and drive while not intoxicate but s***faced.
Smart people make stupid decisions, but so do stupid people. From what I heard about DJ's grades...he is not the genius, his friends and family made him out to be.
It is a shame that this all happened and that DJ's family lost a son, but now it is time to continue on with this nightmare journey and get to the end of it.
RIP DJ...thankfully because you are doing so, our Police Officers are not.
