    Description: Car into a building with injuries 

    0920hrs-Base-5 alerting Vails Gate for the MVA, car into a building, 2314 Route 32.

     

     - While en-route, Base-5 advised VGFD units of possible entrapment and serious injuries as per Cornwall PD.

     

    VGFD Car-3 arrived, established command and advised he had (1) car into a 2-story wood frame commercial building.

    Car-3 then advised that the driver (sole occupant) was not entrapped, but still in the vehicle in and out of consciousness.

     

    R480 arrived with its crew splitting into patient care and stabilization of the vehicle.

     

    E481 was advised to gain entry into the building to assess the damage. E481's officer advised of minor damage to the 1/2 corner, but the building was otherwise stable.

     

    Car-2 arrived and oversaw operations.

     

    T482 was directed to pass the scene and stand by at the Solid Rock Church for a possible LZ (Medevac was later cancelled).

     

    E479 and T484 (Sta. 2) re-directed to station-1 for coverage.

     

    New Windsor EMS/ALS arrived and took over patient care. 

     

    Command requested the Town of Cornwall Building Inspector to the scene. E481 remained on scene for the building inspector, with all other units returning to service.

    Description: Working Fire in a P/D

    Cornwall-on-Hudson dispatched for the automatic residential alarm.

    Companies arrived on scene, forced entry and were met with a heavy smoke condition.

    Command declared a working fire and requested Vails Gate's FAST to the scene and 1&1 from Cornwall to stand by in their own quarters.

    Crews made quick work of the fire with mutual aid released in short order.

  11. As someone who works Sanitation, this is news to my ears.

    Even in the tiny Village of Buchanan, people drive like complete a$$holes with no regard to anyone else. 

    When I drive, I try my best to make it as safe as possible for the guys on the back. No matter what, it just seems people can't wait 30 seconds...

  12. As I have friends in the NFD, I had heard that they adopted a stray dog that they found tied to a fire hydrant. 

    NFD previously had another dog, Barney, who passed away a couple of years ago. Barney could always be found in the front seat of the rig.

    I commend the men of NFD for taking this dog in and giving him the life he deserves! Nice job guys!

    VGFD Car-1 arrived with NWPD to find a vehicle off the roadway, resting on top of other vehicles, with the driver ejected.

    R480 was directed to assist EMS and to secure the vehicle. 

    E478 was originally requested to set-up an LZ (Medivac declined due to weather).

    E479 was re-directed to Station-1.
