  1. The fire alarm did not activate until we opened a wall.FD and PD were evacuating already. Threads were not too much of an issue thanks to our 35 year vet mpo

  9. Tower Ladder 3 will be the same size and wheel base as old TL It will be enclosed cab. We need the same size to fit in firehouse.

  12. How come Fairview is called Ladder 1 when it is a Tower Ladder? Isnt Thornwood Tower Ladder 1?
  13. Pelham Manor carries a 50 on Tower Ladder 3, last time it was used was at The Biltmore fire.

  15. You are absolutely correct. Who will be the chief, what about deputies captains, etc. What happens with the union contracts? Will the residents accept a one engine house when they are used to 2 and 1 responding. There are many questions and not many answers given by the big shots involved.
  16. gas leak in early 80's probably 1980. owner heard gas leak, got all the patrons out no one was hurt. Can't remember how bad the damage was.

  18. The union should definitely get involved. Go public to the papers and even a mailing to households and business in the city. Safety to the Firefighters and the public is the issue.

  21. Bigger city paid jobs have a chauffer school. Small combo jobs the guys are taught to drive from day one on the job. They continue to drive until they are qualified and then become chauffers. They still learn on the job. People need to realize we still have to obey the rules of the road. We just can't blow red lights and stop signs. This is where guys get into trouble.
  22. unfortunately, in small combo depts the paid duty officer has to act as firefighter and officer. He helps stretch in and then has to go outside and act as the IC.
  23. It was the old tennis center, half torn down, but had wooden shelving and cat walk that was burning. Pelham Manor Engine #1, 1976 Mack, still in service.
