In this post we have Engine 272 with some of its compartments and Rescue 16 with all its compartments..

I visited Yorktown's Open House on Sunday and got some shots of some of their apparatus. In this group we have Engine 273, Ladder 51, the inside of the station looking out and the outside of the station featuring Mohegan Lake's Utility and smoke house.

It's been a hectic past couple of months for us, leaving little time to post our recent deliveries, but over the next week or so we'll be trying to get more up.
The Archville Fire Department, established in 1909 in the Scarborough Fire District, recently took delivery of their new Chief’s vehicle, a 2012 Ford Expedition designated 2631, from Specialty Warning Systems in Danbury CT.
Lighting is comprised of Whelen components including a Freedom lightbar, an eight head Dominator in the front grille, split red/white IONs on the Setina pushbumper and red/white M4s at each corner for side protection. Vertex HideAways in the brake & reverse lights, an eight head Traffic Advisor above the cargo door and red/white IONs on the cargo door and in the upper cargo window complete the system which is controlled by A CenCom Sapphire system.
The center console is a Havis vehicle specific which contains the department and County radios, CenCom control head, dual power outlets and side mount armrest.
Additional LED lighting was added inside the cargo compartment to aid in equipment retrieval at night, with PAR36 LEDs added under the rear of the truck for supplemental reverse and ground lighting.
The unique black reflective striping, gold leaf and white reflective lettering and door seal framing a photo of their horse drawn engine combine to provide their exterior graphics.
We enjoyed working with the Archville FD on their new Chief’s truck and appreciate their confidence in us. We look forward to additional projects with them in the future.

can't wait to see it....hope it is just as good at third watch...but then again nothing can replace how good third watch was!!

As chair of our department's anniversary, I would like to thank all the departments who stuck it out with the weather and helped celebrate with us; as well as all the spectators who sat on the sidelines watching and cheering all the departments on. I know some probally disagreed with our all call to keep the parade on, but in the end we all had a good time and see how things go in 25 years for the 100th

It will be September 11th. And here we are 11 years later. The most infamous day of our generation has a meaning to every American. Everyone was affected that day. Some obviously much more than others.
I think about our New York City Brothers and Sisters from the jobs. Some of the people that I know personally, absolutely amaze me/have amazed me as they picked themselves up from the dust and debris and carried on doing their jobs. They've taught me so much about personal fortitude and inner strength.
There's one guy I know and love. He was a Bronx truckie, a Brooklyn truckie, a Manhattan truckie. He's one of the few that wears a two star 9/11 medal. Lost so many personal friends, I honestly to this day have a hard time understanding how he was able to carry on.
Yeah, he got banged up pretty good and had to put his papers in. Aside from the hundreds of heroes who were lost, with all of their combined experience and knowledge, it amazes me how the FDNY in particular was able to rebuild itself in the aftermath of a loss of such magnitude.
This Brother though, he is so knowledgeable about the fire service; the FDNY losing him to premature retirement was yet another huge loss for the agency. He could have easily been a great Chief Officer.
Yet, with the personal losses this Brother endured, he not only carried on through the physical and emotional pain, he has still been able to contribute to the fire service in other ways; with his knowledge and desire to help others he has done that and more.
To say that I am in awe of this Brother would be an understatement.
I continually ask myself how this man does it. In many ways, he has been a mentor to me. He has been there for me when times have been difficult. Always a reassuring voice, always positive, always pointing out the things I should be grateful for. Reminding me not to dwell so much on personal failures, loss, and things that cannot be changed.
I thank God for a Brother like him. He has taught me so much, I cannot begin to say how I feel about him. About never being able to adequately express my gratitude for his friendship, his mentoring, his Brotherhood. I grew up without an older brother, and always wished I had one. God sent this man my way in the aftermath of 9/11, and I honestly feel like he became that brother I always wished I had.
In two days, the Remembrance Ceremonies will take place. It is repeatedly a heart wrenching day. I feel and will always remember the sacrifices our Brothers and Sisters made for the good of others; for the good of all of us.
Many people have forgotten. To much of the country, 9/11 was a television experience. The wars have been that way for most of us as well. It is our duty, as emergency service personnel to keep the flame of memory alive for our lifetimes.
You know, I never truly understood what WWII veterans felt about Pearl Harbor until the years slowly built up after 9/11. Now I do.
And for my Brother, I know enough to let him alone in the days leading up to 9/11, and the days afterward. For him, it is entirely personal. But I'll be thinking about him anyway, along with the heroes who left us that day. Thinking, remembering, and saying thank you once again.

Then it's off to get lunch, then down to my office to show my stepson what his old pal Jimmy does for a living. As we walk into the PSAC that time forgot, a 2nd Alarm being transmitted for Manhattan Box 76. Pre-requisite bathroom breaks, and off we go. Mind you, we drove past this not even 15 minutes before, and saw NOTHING!!!!

On the way home, the little guy needed a bathroom break. Then again, so did his mom and me. We stopped at 95 Engine and took care of things. They got a run as I was leaving, so the little guy got to see them turning out, which put a nice sized smile on his face.

Yonkers FD's Water Tender ready to roll during the water emergency 8-27-12. Yonkers FD was very well prepared to tackle this major water supply issue which affects the part of the city with an extremly high fire load and very dense population.

With Hurricane Issac now over the Keys the Capt may need help . I am willing to drive down in my pick up to check on him.I am looking for donations to fill my truck to take to him.
