What if? What if? What if?
You can "what if" things to death and the bottom line always seems to be we respond to the call we have. We don't decline to respond so we can remain available for the call that we MAY get.
What if Engines 131 and 134 are on another FIRE call when your hypothetical structure fire comes in across town? Does it matter that the call is EMS or FIRE? It shouldn't. It's still our customer calling for help.

This is happening all over Westchester. Flycar medics are transporting BLS calls because local agencies can not or will not provide minimum staffing.

In the past its been referred to as thinning the herd.
Darwin refers to this as strengthening the gene pool and survival of the fittest

This goes to show, yet again, you can never underestimate how stupid people can be.

As I understood it, and this may have changed some, the City of Peekskill, Town of Cortlandt, and Village of Buchanan all contribute to support the ALS program and it is a regional approach. So Peekskill taxpayers should know (if they bother to become educated/informed) that they are part of a regional system.
If a medic is tied up on a BLS call, another medic from the system or mutual aid would handle a subsequent call. That's nothing new or unique.

Implement a plan that would consolidate school districts, fire districts, and other feifdoms? Never happen!

There's no such thing as "half a crew". Either you have a crew or you don't. Paging for drivers, EMT's, or one of my favorites "attendant" is just compounding the delays. You should have to have a crew on duty (and I would argue that they have to be with the ambulance) so you can actually arrive in time to save a life.

If there has already been a 20 minute delay between the 911 call and the ambulance responding, turn the damn lights and siren off. You're no better than a pizza delivery guy at that point.

This is all because to many agencies have forgot the only reason for existing is the patient and not for the organization or the members.
    ITS ALL ABOUT THE PATIENT!
I wish the State DOH would start to question agencies that have a pattern of failing to respond or major delays in responding as to why should they be allowed to maintain their C.O.N.

And the 4 or so other VAC's in the same town(s) are doing the same. It would be much better to take those 2 one manned ambulances and CONSOLIDATE into 1 two manned unit so response times would be reasonable.
Each of these agencies is paying 1 EMT to do 1 or 2 calls in 12 hours. Most city ambulances are doing 8-12 calls in that time.
Big waste of $$$ and the response times still stink.

Ok that slightly narrows it down. Now which program?
Almost all of the programs do not appear to be eligible for this type of department or its program.
State Homeland Security Program (SHSP)—provides more than $354 million to support the implementation of state homeland security strategies to build and strengthen preparedness capabilities at all levels. The 9/11 Act requires states to dedicate 25 percent of SHSP funds to law enforcement terrorism prevention activities.
Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI)—provides nearly $559 million to enhance regional preparedness and capabilities in 25 high-threat, high-density areas. The 9/11 Act requires states to dedicate 25 percent of UASI funds to law enforcement terrorism prevention activities.
Operation Stonegarden (OPSG)—provides $55 million to enhance cooperation and coordination among local, tribal, territorial, state, and Federal law enforcement agencies to jointly enhance security along the United States land and water borders.
Emergency Management Performance Grants (EMPG) Program—provides more than $332 million to assist local, tribal, territorial, and state governments in enhancing and sustaining all-hazards emergency management capabilities.
Tribal Homeland Security Grant Program (THSGP)—provides $10 million to eligible tribal nations to implement preparedness initiatives to help strengthen the nation against risk associated with potential terrorist attacks and other hazards.
Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP)—provides $10 million to support target hardening and other physical security enhancements for nonprofit organizations that are at high risk of a terrorist attack and located within one of the 25 FY 2013 UASI-eligible urban areas.
Intercity Passenger Rail - Amtrak (IPR) Program—provides more than $9 million to protect critical surface transportation infrastructure and the traveling public from acts of terrorism and increase the resilience of the Amtrak rail system.
Port Security Grant Program (PSGP)—provides more than $93 million to help protect critical port infrastructure from terrorism, enhance maritime domain awareness, improve port-wide maritime security risk management, and maintain or reestablish maritime security mitigation protocols that support port recovery and resiliency capabilities.
Transit Security Grant Program (TSGP)—provides more than $83 million to owners and operators of transit systems to protect critical surface transportation and the traveling public from acts of terrorism and to increase the resilience of transit infrastructure.

Goons? Blimp uniforms? Didn't have the guts to admit it? What's your problem with the police? They're doing a tough job under miserable conditions and you're calling them goons? That's just messed up!
I saw another video on the news this morning about some crazy carjacker in Colorado being taken down on the highway by a cop who used the same technique to bring the guy down - arm around the neck. There are not a lot of other/better options to take down a guy especially one who's 6'5 and 300+ pounds without using significant force (like taking out a knee or two). Martial artists learn that where the head goes the body follows so here we are.......

What about quality not quantity? I just think its a better assessment as far as hall of fame stature goes. The guy who shows up to the most calls isn't always the best fireman, we all know that. So how about a ratio of reputation points to number of posts, who has the most likes per post? Just an idea

I think there are far more unprofessional things on the radio. Like, third tones for a crew... An EMT is needed....
XXXX on scene, working fire, retone for all available personnel...
