Correct I'm employed, and I'm hardly out of the loop. As INIT pointed out, numerous agencies are recruiting and hiring. You have asked about agencies in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. I find it difficult to believe that in a 3 state search you can't find an EMS agency hiring, especially considering the ever-so-prevalent high turnover rate with most EMS agencies. The agency I work for is a smaller agency in the grand scale and we've picked up several paramedics in the past few months.
Just looking at websites for Empress, SeniorCare, and TransCare, all 3 companies indicate they are hiring paramedics and have online application features you can take advantage of.
Have you been for interviews? Have you been offered employment anywhere and turned it down? Have you had someone in the field who you respect review your resume for you? Maybe he/she can offer some constructive feedback to help make you more of an appealing potential employee by restructuring your resume if you're having a difficult time getting hired.

I'm sorry, but I have to ask... Are EMS jobs that hard to come by nowadays? I only ask because you are always starting topics asking about companies/agencies for employment.

Ground ladders is a basic firefighter skill overall...not just a "truck company" focus. Most departments in this area do not have the resources to run as function based crews...but rather have to operate as skill based. So no matter what you may wear on your shirt or what "company" you belong to....basics are basics.

Hey Master of stupid. I am not as well as many others of my fellow employees are Not A Bunch of Skells. This is the point I think you should get off the the computer. I have been doing this job as a volly & paid longer than you probably been alive. You are no longer insulting a company. You are insulting me. What my fellow employees that care & I bring to the table is good pt care. No matter what uniform we wear. I am sure you could even learn a lesson from us. Oh wait you couldn't. You have blinders on. We are not perfect, but we try & do. If you actually knew who & what you where talking about. Go away cause I'm done with you. You don't call people that do their jobs Skells.

This thread is priceless and goes to show that we all THINK we know how to do each other's job, when in reality we most certainly don't. The thread started dropped a bomb, was proven wrong numerous times and now didn't chime back in to admit he was wrong. Priceless.

Complete garbage...in all my years working at a voluntary hospital EMS dept in NYC, I never ONCE heard of someone doing this or even suggest doing this. Nor have I EVER had a manager suggest where to take a patient. We were never involved in any aspect of billing, didn't document their insurance or check if they had it. The only time I have ever heard of this crap is when it is coming from FDNY EMS.
What we did do, was treat our job like someone's life depended on it. We always had SOD radio up and were already responding when EMS was dispatched, buff, whatever. If a job in our area was mis-dispatched to another unit, we took it. If we were closer to someone elses job, we took it. If we got relocated, we did it without complaint. If the patient wanted to go to manhattan, they went there. If the patient wanted QGH, they went there. If the patient didn't care, they went to the closest appropriate, end of story.

was acutally looking to answer some of the other questions that were asked on here. but since u just so happened to quote me i guess i will add what i think.
    1. i thought that FDNY Rescue companies do alot of specialty work such as tech rescue, and could be utlized as a truck company to do search and rescue at a fire.
    2. i see where this is gonna lead, and like every other topic its gonna come down to paid vs vollie. because vollies dont have as much training as career staff. it gets kinda old and seems to be popping up more and more frequently. i know im not the only one tired of seeing it.

That's the trend of the Job Brother let's do more with less. Always loved that mentality of having do take on more things like EMS for the so called "Productiviy" argument. Then we turn around and they lay guys off and put rigs out of service. That makes sense!

Great copy and paste, but a ridiculous point when you say "call the following people". I'm getting really tired of you throwing peoples' names around. Have some respect that you claim to major in apparently. You've made your point about the Mahopac fireman. Obviously some agree, and some don't. DO NOT start throwing around deceased Brothers and Sisters names here. How dare you!

I didn't know Mike Purdy, everything everyone says about him was that he was all aces. But, why did he get a fire department funeral? I asked this same question when the "acting" Chief of Cold Spring PD died from a motor vehicle accident was given a full PD Honor funeral.
Acts like this dilute it when guys really get killed in a gun fight (Trooper Dave Brinkerhoff) or in a basement (lt Neuner).
