I was able to CONFIRM, at least for tonight, that the Friendly's in Carmel (across from Hannaford Supermarket, across from Wendys on Route 6 C/S Stoneleigh Ave) is STILL OPEN!

Besides the Fribble, this is what I will miss most about having a Friendlys nearby and I hope Carmel will stay open so I can continue to enjoy it....what is your favorite Friendly's meal?

Friendly's Turkey Club Super Melt Sandwich

Crisp bacon and melted American cheese layered over warm turkey breast with tomato and Thousand Island dressing on grilled sourdough bread

My favorite Friendly's meal is the Reese's pieces sundae. What that's not a meal!! LOL

  2. Or the fact they want to create a new "Executive Assistant Chief" position for $135,000 a year in order to "groom" the Chiefs replacement, one of which is the son of the District's longtime secretary and companion to the late Chief Mauro.

Fairview fire commissioner sounds alarm on proposed $135G executive position

you are way off on your statement about the chiefs replacement!!!! Its not the late Chief Mauro son. Get your facts correct before you post!!!

  3. Next he will be going after the Triborough Doctrin and for people who dont know what it is.

The Triborough Doctrine - The Facts

In the early 1980's the New York State Legislature passed legislation that amended the Taylor Law. The Triborough Amendment was passed as a counter to the fact that NYS public employees do not have the right to strike.

Most public employees don't think about the Triborough Doctrine or remember its importance. There are some in the NYS legislature that would like to eliminate this important legislation.

What does the Triborough Doctrine do?

    • Prevents an employer from changing terms and conditions of employment until a new contract is negotiated.
    • Requires empoyers to negotiate in good faith, in exchange employees are protected from striking. Employers changing terms and conditions of employment after a contract expires but before a new contract commit an improper practice.

What effect would a repeal of the Triborough Amendment have?

    • Step increases, increments and longevity pay amounts could be stopped.
    • Employers could reduce work hours and workers' pay and change benefits after a contract expires.
    • Holiday and sick pay could be eliminated.
    • Health coverage could be reduced and employees' share of the premium could be increased.
    • Employers could implement a contract on its employees if no agreement is achieved.

The Triborough Amendment puts UPSEU members on a level playing field. An elimination of this important legislation or even a watered down version would have a devastating effect on public employees throughout the state of New York.

For those wondering if their legislators working to stop public employees of this important legislation believe public employees would be granted the right to strike to be law, they don't. They want a one way bargaining process.

  6. always two sides to a story and in the case negotiation. As its been for some time now its the unions fault. Just look at whats going on around Westhester. Yonkers, white plains New Ro and CSEA with the county. For all you guys saying you would work for less to keep your jobs, Well how much less? $4.00 an hour? pay for your health care work 80 hours a week. What next. If you give in to one thing it may never stop. I dont know what the unions turned down or what the CEO was prosposing. You cant judge from a one minute clip from the today show.

    Record size

The greatest weight ever recorded for a dog, 343 pounds (156 kg), was that of an English Mastiff from England named Aicama Zorba of La Susa, although claims of larger dogs exist.[3] According to the 1989 edition of the Guinness Book of Records, in March 1989, when he was 7 years old, Zorba stood 35 inches (89 cm) at the shoulder and was 8.25 feet (251 cm) from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail, about the size of a small donkey.[4] After 2000, the Guinness Book of World Records stopped accepting largest or heaviest pet records.

This record has never been officially bested, therefore it is widely agreed that Zorba may have been the heaviest dog ever.

  9. First off, don't necessarily believe everything you read posted here in an IA, as gospel.

There are rare times some departments might not get a rig able to roll to a call. It could be there was no qualified driver arriving to the station, or something as simple as the truck wouldn't start.

If you want to speculate, maybe it was the the eightieth time this same location came in, and everyone said screw it

    .

You are going to tell me they dont have another rig in the house to take the call. Have you seen the firehouse in Westcherster county? they all have more then one rig in them.

For the screw it part, for anybody to think like that they should just quit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(but make sure they do it after the free trip to lake george) :o
