Barack Obama- 44th President Of The United States

99 posts in this topic

Well...one thing is for sure. He will have very minimal excuses if he doesn't succeed being he is a democrat president with a democratic controlled congress. Paying for social security? I have no problem with social security, and what its true principle of it. All of you who believe him with his tax cuts, keep believing it. Bill Clinton said the same thing, with pundits and economic specialist saying then what they are saying now...its not possible with the deficit and current state of the economy. I just hope the military won't have to revert back to what we had to do under Clinton, stripping equipment to keep other equipment on line.

Otherwise, I am proud for my generation to have a piece of history as many of parents and grandparents have had through their lives. Either way, while I didn't care for him, he will be our president and I wish him well biddings to get us back on track.

Amen, brother.

It is done, and we have to make the best of it with what we have. We got the government we deserve, and only the coming years will tell if it was a just dessert.

I don't hate the man, but I don't love him, either. I see that my previous topic about "Pray for our Country" was deleted. I hope that's not a harbinger of

what we might see with talk-radio, etc. in the future under a new "Liberal" regime.

Is anyone else troubled by the way that the media racially polarized this election? Chris Matthews was virtually trashing McCain on MSNBC last night as the

numbers started rolling in. Biased blowhards like him seemed to dominate the election coverage. That trend is waht bothers me more than anything else.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.

Great nations rise and fall. The people go from bondage to spiritual truth, to great courage, from courage to liberty, from liberty to abundance, from abundance to selfishness, from selfishness to complacency, from complacency to apathy, from apathy to dependence, from dependence back again to bondage.

SpartanML, who said that? That was a very good quote. It sounds like something Alexis de Tocqueville would say, but I don't know for sure.

Either way, can we start an In Memoriam thread for Capitalism? Its funny how things worked out. The Democrats always claimed that the Republicans were creating false fears to circumvent the Constitution. "He who gives up liberty for security deserves neither" -Ben Franklin I believe. But as soon as the economy goes in the john, the Democrats fearmonger themselves into looking like rockstars. Please explain, how can you increase social services but lower taxes? I'm not an economics major, but I can add. You need revenue to spend the kind of outlandish money he wants to spend (cutting tuition by 50% across the board, universal healthcare, etc.) How does he expect to pay for this.

Also, I am extremely disheartened by the fact that the White House, Senate, and House are controlled by Democrats. No one party should have that much power. Unfortunately it will be "interesting" to see how things go from here. I will finish with another interesting quote:

"Power corrupts, absolute power is actually pretty neat." -John Lehman

You mean "Fox News, All Bush all the time". Fox News is the closest thing the Republican Party has for a Press Secretary.

BTW, i just woke up and scanned all the headlines. Where are all the riots? I thought America as we know it was going to end last night if we elected Obama.

Yes and ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN are the same for the Democrats, so no matter how much Fox says they can never achieve a balanced media.

NOW SHOW ME THE CHANGE!

Change will be all you have left in your pocket once he declares everyone who works to be officially rich and therefore subject to his new redistribution of wealth program.

But hey, if you like standing on line at the government store for coffee only to discover you are on the shoe line, and then you take the shoes even though they are the wrong size simply because you don't know the next time shoes will be avalible, then that's fine for you I guess. Time and time again it has been proven that socialism does not work.

Well, the Democrats just shot themselves in the foot. This has large potential to be one of the best things that happened to conservatives. Let's also not forget that the popular vote is clear - the president elect has NO mandate.

I See Red In Four Years.....Just Like what happened in 1980

Bring Back the Reagan Conservatives!

Chris Matthews is an idiot. He is the product of the far left media. Look how they crucified Joe the plumber. The man wasn't even running yet they made an issue about him. They spent more time and effort investigating him than ACORN.

Actually, Chuck Schumer is already beating that drum: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=htD_-A7pDhw

I'm not happy about Obama getting in, but there are some positives of this outcome. The Republican party can now retool itself and step away from the Bush's and Dole's. We can free ourselves of the evangelical nonsense that has choked the party for decades, in particular these last eight years. We can step back towards fiscal conservatism, instead of running trillion dollar deficits. Remember, we're the party of Lincoln, no matter how much Obama likes to compare himself to him.

We'll have the chance in four years, if you want to know what Obama's presidency will be like, go read up on Jimmy Carter. Obama is already saying that his "plans" will take two terms, of course, he waited until after he was elected to admit that.

I'm also ashamed that, while this election is supposed to be the great equalizer between races, I wake up today to see Jesse Jackson and Spike Lee gloating on the news. Not that it's a scientific poll or anything, but everyone should check out Sal from Howard Stern doing street interviews in Harlem. He asks people who they're voting for, and when they say Obama, he goes on list McCain's policies to see how people will support them. The catch is, he states that they're Obama's policies, and everyone ends up totally supporting them. Again, it's not exactly a gallup poll, but it's an interesting social experiment that shows how people are, in fact, voting for the person and not the policy.

Since it's apparently racist to speak against this type of behavior and political policy, I'm going to let a black man do it for me. Google Thomas Sowell, or better yet, support him by buying any of his books. Why he never ran for president, I'll never know.

No one's worse than that Kieth Oberman and his lapdog Maddow on what is it MSNBC. The liberal media has their man in office, but don't expect any kinds of attacks on him regardless of how BAD things get...it just wouldn't be "politically correct" to scrutinize and lambaste a minority politician

Just goes to show that not only can you get away with murder if you have (or "raise") enough money, but hey now the Presidency is there for the taking as well. No need to be quailfied or even patriotic, so long as you sound good and promise the world.

It's all about style over substance which, if you earn a paycheck we will now ALL have to pay for.

Notice too that the rest of the world is rejoicing...and why shouldn't they, under Obama we won't have the muscle or fortitude to stand on the world stage. Back to being a paper tiger ala Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton times ten. Excuse me while I puke.

joe the plumber became fair game once he endorsed mccain and decided to campaign with him, he hired a team of publicist so he can tour the media curcuit and he failed. if joe (which isnt his name) didnt want to get ripped he should have asked his question which he did and stayed out of the spotlight ,but he decided to throw himself into the middle of the mccain rallies therefore he was fairgame.

52% to 46% is not a mandate. Do 46% of Americans simply don't count? I guess if your an Obama supporter they don't.

The fact is that those who voted for Obama have no idea who they voted for. Anyone hear the sound bites from a few months ago (which have resurfaced) about Obama wanting to create a national domestic defense force with equal strength, capability and funding as the U.S. Military? What exactly does that mean? Surely sounds like something reminiscent of Hitler's SA. Is this major middle class tax cut really going to be feasible or is this going to be another empty promise just like Clinton's was? I don't know about you guys but "economic justice" is not a civil right from where i sit (not some of the crooks on wall street - i have no problem with throwing them in jail and re distributing their wealth to stockholders).

At the end of the day i respect the man and will support him as President elect ( i will never be like those liberal wind bags, "OH HES NOT MY PRESIDENT") but i don't buy into his pipe dream. I hope he plays the middle of the road as he has promised but never has practiced (hes been ultra left wing in state government and in the senate) and i pray that God gives him solid judgement and resolve during the difficult times ahead.

Wait wait wait wait. WHAT?!?!? A national domestic defense force? Like NATIONAL POLICE?!?!?!? Isn't that a big no-no against states' rights? We have an FBI, we have DHS, we have ATF, etc... another national law enforcement bureaucracy will do us no good, just increase the ranks fo the ones we have now, and get the politics out of them.

Here ya go. Personally, history has me remembering this happening in the 1930s in a little nation known as Germany. Brown shirts anyone?

It is not clear who first said the quote, however if history teaches us anything, I take it pretty seriously. It is a cruel forshadowing of what may happen in the coming years and decades.

Sir Winston Churchill: "The inherent vice of Capitalism is the unequal distribution of blessings" . "The inherent vice of Socialism is the equal distribution of misery".

SpartanML, thanks for the youtube link bro. He said it during the early/mid summer i think and no one questioned it - very disturbing.

Sage, you are correct. the Federal Government does not have police powers because federalism gives those to each state - thats why we have STATE TROOPERS and then the state gives up some of that power to each municipality - why we have local police. Entities like the ATF and and FBI handle the breaking of federal statutes and also act as liaisons between local and federal authorities and in turn can offer resources and expertise a small village or city department may not have.

Another interesting note - the young did not turn out to vote anymore than they did in 2004 and 2000. The Black vote saw the biggest bump in this election.

I just pray that Obama doesn't try to ram ultra-left wing legislation like the "Fairness Doctrine" (our inept wind bang senator Chuck Schumer is already pounding his chest about that), a national defense force or this robin hood steal from the rich give to those who don't pay taxes garbage. Time will tell.

Stepjam is right, if McCain won....every single college student at every single school in every single state that voted for Obama would have rioted. I know because most of the people I talked to at my school and others across this country said they would riot if McCain won.

However, when you enjoying being as far left as they are in Burlington, Vermont, we organized and paraded and cheered and thank god after Obama's win.

Let me also say that I do not think that Obama will be that god at his job, he is just going to be 10 times better at the job than McCain ever could. Biden would be a far better president the Obama even.

Joe the plumber became a media frenzy because he questioned Obama on his tax plan. Once that happened all the left wing media entities began to hound him and dig as much dirt on him as they can. It is true that McCain brought him up during the debate but he was using him as an example as to who would suffer under the tax plan. Matthews, Oberman and the rest of the left winged, one sided idiots had a field day on him. Fox news was the only network in my opinion that was fair on both candidates.

Joe Biden a good president? Stop drinking the kool-aid and pick up a book. He's one of if not the biggest anti-american, anti-military windbags on capitol hill. If you think Joe Biden is change....you are dangerously mistaken. Hes a major liability why do you think the campaign silenced him in the last two weeks or so? Because when he opens his mouth he sounds like an elitist piece of garbage:

I hate to sound rash but i dealt with this group-think garbage in college while i studied politics and it scares me that so many could so blindly follow someone, let alone elect the most unexperienced and unproven candidate EVER.

Think about this for a second - you apply to a police department of federal agency such as the FBI, ATF or Secret Service. In your past you've associated with individuals like William Ayers, Louis Farikon and Tony Rezko. Do you think that after the respective agency completed the background check you would be hired? Not sure? The answer is HELL NO.

Granted, i didn't love McCain - if this was the 2000 McCain i would have been behind him much more - but i could have never brought myself to vote for such an unexperienced and unknown candidate.

the Name OBAMA just does not sit right with me. But If America Thinks so I guess we will have to see what the future of turning his back on the American FLAG will bring to us. JUST my 2 CENTS. nevermind I may need those 2 cents in my pocket so I don't go broke we will only see.

Don't worry about the American flag. By the time he is done, it will be relegated to museums and we will all be flying the UN flag.

Remember, the only difference between O-Bama and O-Sama, is the B S.

I just can't make up my mind if he is socialist, communist, marxist, or some combination of them all.
