Pardon me, but isn't the speed limit on the TSP 55 mph? How could you say 50 mph is slow in inclement weather?

Seth had been accepting checks toward donations in the past, unfortunately current circumstances preclude that as an option.
While we are working on a solution for a method to accept checks again, and only as a suggestion, perhaps you could persuade another member to submit a donation on your behalf, and we can give you the proper recognition once the transaction is completed.
Once the dust settles hopefully we can establish a permanent method for accepting paper checks, cash or money orders.
On behalf of the entire staff, Thanks again to all of those members who have been kind enough to contribute and help support our community. Your generosity is truly appreciated!

Great knockdown wp! Leaving the engine along side the hydrant and having two ladders sandwich it works great especially in narrow streets. Closer stretch and both sides of house covered. 71 and 74 are usually great with coordinating with which way they are responding. Great jop wp once again!

Who said this roof was going to give? M' ave I'm not talking about all fires or all the time. But I am talking about this fire and when arial's are at such a low angle that climbing them is less than safe. And of course if the roof might be undermined due to fire don't go on it. Or work out of a bucket. Btw working off of a stick to cut a roof is no picnic, with it bouncing and the temptation to side load it. You could throw off its structural integrity. For "this" fire and those like it I'd rather climb a reliable ground ladder 24 to 30 ft up than an arial 40 to 60 ft out. Now were not talking about rescues cause if we are I might do something different but thats another thread.
  14. efdcapt115 liked a post in a topic by TimesUp in White Plains Working Fire Photos
Is it safer to operate off an arial? It depends on the angle, distance to the roof and the pitch of the roof. I would much rather climb a ground ladder to this particular roof than a arial extended 60-80 feet at a very low angle. Working off a ariel is not always safer. Seeing guys carrying tools while going up a ladder that is extended 50-80 ft at low angles would not be safer in this particular case or similar incidents. But if you don't position an arial in front you have less options from the start. Looks like a good job and a great stop!

You know, I looked at the tag Seth put on his post; "Haters are my motivators." Had to think about that one for a while. Then I remembered something. A Facebook Group. "I Hate EMTBravo." Had to look and saw the page had 169 "likes."
I wonder how those people feel now. If they feel anything at all that is.
I wonder what motivates people to hate. You think those people who took a Facebook page and turned it into a page of hate, you think that didn't hurt Seth? For the "sin" of having created a space for all of us to convene and talk about the jobs we have/had?
There should be no room in emergency services for hate. We're all supposed to be in the service of the people. Common cause.
Now that we can all see what the man has been through, I hope a lot of those haters are doing some soul searching. And regretting.

Yes WPFD did a great stop. Yes we see the power lines. With a rear mount you put the turn table under them and rotate the stick and you made the roof. Simple truck positioning, done all the time and the stick is well below the danger zone.
  19. efdcapt115 liked a post in a topic by M' Ave in White Plains Working Fire Photos
I couldn't agree less. Is the point of this site to critique operations and procedures or is it just to talk about who's got a shiny new truck. (even though we all DO like shiny new trucks).
There is no fire operation anywhere ever that is text book perfect. Anyone who feels thier operation requires no critique, comment or question is dangerously self confident. We Monday morning quarterback because that's how everyone learns!
From the look of the smoke colum from those great aerial photos, it looks like they managed to make a great stop. From the video, it looks like that house will be perfectly sound for renovation. With today's interior furnishings and petroleum products, a saved structure is a good stop. Well done.
Asking about positioning ect. is just that, a question. It invites debate and discussion and no one should take offense, as long as questioning parties act appropriately.
