Not being critical of having two choppers - correcting statement that it was use it for a chopper or lose it!

Not true if that money was part of the UASI funds it could have been used for any number of things (not specifically earmarked for a helicopter use it or lose it) It was the County's decision to earmark the funds for the choppers!

How many of the local firefighters were either in Wildwood or enroute for the convention? Heard on the audio posted some units advising they where on the GSP heading north! Presumably coming back from Wildwood! That would not have been an issue with a paid dept. with minumum staffing requirements.

As far as I know the Career departments don't set the standard - in NYS - OFPC sets the standard - and I beleive there are 2 standards one for Career and one for volunteer? If everyone followed the same standard it would be a level playing field. For Firefighters and Officers.

Maybe when the career departments acknowledge the volunteer departments as the farm teams and use the farm teams to feed the system. Go to the "farm teams" and mold them and shape them to the standard the career departments set as the standard. Do this instead of putting people and departments down.
To paraphrase a saying in baseball, " you offer to train them and they will come"
The career departments should be the mentors and the leaders to raise the standard in Westchester.

Make sure you do the math gasoline 6lbs per gallon, water 8.3lbs per gallon on a large tanker like that the difference may exceed the GVW of the trailer if it was originally designed to carry fuel.
5000 gallons of gasoline = 30,000lbs, 5000 gallons of water 41,500lbs thats 33% more weight!!!

Not exactly. In 1960, you'd have to have waited two more years for me to even drive a Matchbox limo across the rug in the living room.
Nice to see you back bad box!
Edit: Any Yonkers guys want to help us out here, and identify the location where the photo was taken?
I think that is facing east from Larkin Plaza looking up into manor House Square? - I beleive those apartment buildings in the background are on the dead end of overlook terrace. The building on the left I think was a bar (Ryan's?) just west of Philipsburg Hall - The motorcade is entering the north side of larkin Plaza heading west toward the train station.

we have a set in our USAR cache - used them in training a few times very impressive - also 110V adapter available to convert if necessary.

What ever boat we have in the water at the time would be designated as FB-1, if more than 1 boat the second one would be designated as FB=1 Alpha - 41' is currently dry docked future uncertain at this time.

FYI - for the past 2 years this has become a useful drill to exercise deployment of our USAR resources as well as mutual aid. The 2 frontline units that participated were backfilled with fully stocked reserve apparatus prior to leaving the city (When we send mutual aid out and it goes to work our policy is to backfill them with reserve rigs). As far as the USAR resources it gives us an oppurtunity to deploy vehicles, trailers and other equipment - this allows us to identify best practices and more importantly any shortcomings.

Looks great - bit of trivia = that front compartment closest to the turntable was originally mounted over the rear wheel of the trailer - the tiller drivers said it interfered with their line of site when turning - so the shop unbolted them and moved them forward - thats why it kind of looks out of place - because it is! lol
