How about a hard case glove dispenser box (Moore Medical)and use a PAC Track rated bracket to hold it in place.

    All,
We would like to mount a medical glove box holder that holds one box of medical gloves in the cabs of our apparatus. I know every medical supply house carries what I need for $20-30 each, but those arent NFPA 9G rated. I have plenty of mounting space, both on the back wall of the cab and the doghouse cover so either a vertical or horizontal mount is fine. Does anyone know of a company that has a 9G rated glove box holder? Pac and Zico dont have what Im looking for.
    Thanks!

The one big problem with moving the fire district elections that has never been mentioned in any article is the fact that fire district boundaries are not contiguous with either municipal, school district, or election district boundaries. Administratively it would be a nightmare. One school district for example could encompass several fire districts. It's easy to have a knee jerk reaction (read Paul Feiner) and make a suggestion, but you need to be able to back up the suggestion with a plan on how to carry it out.

Districts answer to the taxpayers, and also the state Comptrollers office if your not handling your $ as you should.

The tax cap was political grandstanding at it's worse. NY, for years could not pass a budget on time and they decided to tell local government entities how to do business. The biggest tax burden as always are the school systems where the public votes on the budget.

All the lawyers at the Association of Fire Districts of NYS conference last year told commissioners to make a motion to POSSIBLY exceed the 2% tax cap due to math issues with the Comptrollers Office numbers. That way you are covered if your increase comes out to 2.001% due to the numbers the Comptrollers Office issues. It's a cover your butt thing.

As of Monday, November 5, 2012 a crew from the Montrose and Castle Point VA FD's were deployed under the OFPC EOC requests. The crew of 5 Hazardous Material Technician's (split between both dept's to ensure adequate station coverage), deployed this am at 0600hrs for the Nassau County staging area. As of right now, the assignment is for DECON Operations for other Hazardous Materials Teams operating in the effected area's. At this time, both campuses are maintaining staffing without compromising normalcy at both campuses. Be safe and the VAFD's from CPFD/Montrose are glad to be able to assist in this time of need.

I'm a firm believer that if someone ignores a mandatory evacuation order, and then comes to need emergency assistance, that responders should not be forced to risk their lives/safety to save them.

First and foremost track every expense - even personnel time whether career or volunteer.
Then have your chief or commissioners contact your local office of emergency management and find out how to submit that documentation to them so it can be included in the official submission for reimbursement.
You may be able to recoup about 75% of eligible expenses but that is ONLY with proper and complete documentation. If you don't have the documentation you're going to be out of luck.
The local states of emergency don't do anything for disaster aid. The FEDERAL declarations are what pave the way to reimbursements.

To call it hype at this point is premature. There's still a lot of latitude in the forecast models and the error range has been 175 NM. That's a huge range! Regardless, even if the storm hits the Delmarva Peninsula, we will be right in the path of the rotation of the storm and during a full moon.
People I'm talking to are likening this storm to the nor'Easter of 1992 that hammered our region; this storm could be every bit of that and then some. 1-2 inches or rain causes flooding and this has the potential to bring twice that.
Don't be too quick to blow this off.

Well latest models put landfall of a direct hit into Jersey somewhere, though that's obviously subject to change between now and the next few days. Plus, as someone mentioned, this is a geographically BIG storm, so to say we're not going to get hit in Westchester/CT might be premature.
I'm not a run out, stock up type of person but this is a good time to talk with your family and go over your personal emergency plans. You'll be a much more effective responder if your mind is at ease about your family situation.

Spin_the_wheel I agree that you can pay someone to manage and update your site but the issue is that most people stop there. They then fail to feed the site manager the info needed to keep the site current. Many people think that the info on these sites come out of thin air. Unless you are willing to give you web developer free license to ad content at will without any consequences most are not just going to post any content they see fit. Any nobody in their right mind is going to give someone that sort of license with their name attached. The real issue is people need to understand that when you decide to create a web presence you make a commitment that you will update daily, weekly, monthly, quaterly, bi-annually, yearly whatever but it is your commitment not the web developers.

I can tell you from our small FDs' perspective it becomes a matter of time. We paid a local web developer to put up a site and install the requisite software to maintain it. Due to concerns about who was capable of site management from both an admin view and from the capability point of view the list of "updaters" quickly slimmed to a single person. Having a single person who has multiple other responsibilities ensures that updates quickly get moved to the back burner. We resisted a FB page and now are reconsidering due to the ease of management thus the only concern is who will manage it from a liability standpoint. Yet another issue that has arisen from budget cuts or not growing while the workload does.

If you could tally up the amount of equipment, manpower hours and everything else that was used on that fire, it would be a staggering number of dollars. That was a heck of a event for all the depts involved, and it was a TON of them.

Sage your advise would be very good if this was for a Hazmat Team, but for most FD's this is way to much. We have AreaRAE's and MultiRAE's with PID and transmitting capability and many of our members shy away from them and below HM Tech few understand PID's. We also have Scott Scouts (they are great, but were just discontinued), have had Orions, and other MSA, AIM, IS and a few other detectors.
The features that we have set in our meters that are used by non Hazmat Techs are 4 gas (O2, CO, H2S & LEL), PEAK Findings (nice when the member returns from investigating and says the alarm when off and he got out and forgot what the reading was) and LEL sniffer
(great when looking for which gas meter is leaking in a meter room of a commercial or MD and when there is an odor in the hall of a MD to find which apt.). Nice to have a built in pump also nice to be able to easy to turn it off.
Thats it. All the other bells and whistles are for techs.
You can get lots of good info from those meter geeks, but most of them do not understand that most FF's do not get it and they will steer you to the sports car when you need a scooter.
    Very much agree. Critical Issues:
    1) You need to be able to calibrate the detector inhouse. I find some detectors are much harder than others to do this. This needs to be done every 30-90 days (or less). I know depts. that send it out and its gone for a week. It takes 3 minutes to do it and it must be done or the meter is useless.
    2) You should be able to change sensors inhouse. A good detector can be done in under 5 minutes. If you can do #1 & #2.... 95% of your servicing needs are covered.
    3) Make sure the service company can provide you with loaners or make sure you have your own spare.

The problem here is that talk is cheap, but officers on patrol are not. If the Mayor wanted to really do something, she'd find the $ to put more officers on per shift and make it happen TODAY.
