Amtrak isn't going to take traffic off 95 until their fares are reasonable and can compete with the cost of driving.

Generally, airbags for hazmat are 3 types:
    1) pipe plugs (inflate inside to seal a pipe, often used to keep spills out of pipes)

    2) patches (wrap around a leaking tank and presurize to maintain product in the tank

    3) low/medium pressure bags to lift a truck/tanker to an upright position.

    No, Thats Truth!
It's amazing when people don't have a contingency to get home because they've traveled the same road for 20 years...Or even better, you're cutting someone out of a car in a revene and someone asks you to move the fire apparatus because they want to get home. I've said it once and i'll say it again...I Love helping people, but I Hate People Sometimes!

He's an awesome guy, and gets some awesome shots on almost a daily basis. Today, he got some truck work in Worcester. Thanks to Paul for letting me share these photos I hope.

I could see this working great and a good cost saving measure. I just hope the town sticks to their word and doesn't lay anyone off.
  12. FF398 liked a post in a topic by IFCO3080 in Mt. Kisco Mulls Expanding Firehouses
Trucks are getting larger and the firehouse is not growing along with it. We two have many commercial buildings along with a hospital many schools and the biggest threat is the old grand union warehouse which poses many threats for us as a fire department. The media misinformed you as they usually do we DO NOT just cover 3 square miles. We are also contracted to cover an additional 8 square miles for the town of Bedford and new castle. These additional areas give very little hydrant protection. This is the main reason to having 4 engines because we do not have a tanker in our department. As stated above one firehouse is not feasible in our village due to flood problems also for ISO purposes the stations have been placed where they are for a reason. Mt Kisco fd is set up the way it is for a reason and all were asking for is a little more room.

Yale and UNH both contribute money to their local emergency services, though obviously Yale can be more generous. UNH does provide a lot of manpower to local FDs as volunteers as well.

This morning, my department was dispatched mutual aid to Wassaic, along with Amenia, and some Conneticut departments for smoke in a church on the NY/CT border.
A second alarm was transmitted to get adequate manpower and apparatus on scene in case fire showed itself. Smart decision IMO.
Anyhow...my son was with me, and he grabbed my iPhone and snapped a few pics...nothing exciting to us, but he was pumped to see "Dad in action!"...now be gentle...he's 10.

Very sad.....people just doing their jobs or volunteering their time and already doing something dangerous.
Hey, maybe the NRA will blame this on the media too and suggest armed guards at all fire scenes
