On September 10 I was shooting a semi-pro football game at SUNY Purchase College. While I was there, Tower Ladder 2 was at one endzone with its ladder up that had an american flag draped over the bucket. It was a nice display and I liked how the lights from the bucket would peek through the flag further illuminating it. By the way, the team was called the Westchester Warriors and they play in the Big East Football Federation in case anyone is interested.

There's a lot of trails in the Rochester area and of course where I am right now, in southern Ontario. Unfortunately our area isn't countryfied enough to provide legal atv/snowmobiling trails.

Some departments, particularly rural areas, don't have the luxury of waiting until their members reach 21 or 25 or whatever. We all know 18 year olds with more maturity than some 40 year olds. I think you have to deal with it
on a department by department, individual by individual basis depending on its specific needs.
Regardless of the age, training is crucial, especially with tankers as they offer their own particular operating difficulties.
One of our local departments rolled their tanker a few years back and it was being driven by one of their most mature and experienced members. It happens.

Everyone do not assume that because you see a photo published on this site that you have a "right" to download the photo from this site and send it to another site. It's not only wrong, it's discourteous to the photographer.
You may not see my copyright marks on my photos but trust me, IT'S THERE!

This thread was split from the Photo Thread:

Keep in mind the Chief of Chelsea (35-1) has posted in here, and I would recommend, if you DO have any further questions, per his request, feel free to get in contact with him!

Your comment is foolish, asinine, moronic, and not very thought out. To blame a Department for giving the black eye instead of the individual. That eye has been beaten by so many people over the history of the fire service it is never going away. Who ever blames the Department should look into there own closet and examine there skeletons before blaming the Sleepy Hollow Fire Department for this. I am sure you all have a few things that are in there that never made the news or bought to the attention of the police.

Yes I am a member of Sleepy Hollow Fire Department. Trent if you meet him before this incident was very active here; you never expected this from him. But he has been accused of committing the most heinous crime a firefighter can commit do I feel hurt and betrayed. Yes I do. Do I stand by my Department of course I do and will always. I am proud of my Chiefs and Officers and fellow Firefighters who help keep Sleepy Hollow safe.

What can we take from this?
-Sometimes you have to imagine how things will play out in the paper and the damage that can be done to the reputation of your orginization.
-If your an officer be the officer. It is your job to be the voice of reason when things get out of hand.
-It's 2011 this is how things are we are not going back to the old days.
The alleged conduct is both illegal and sick. Instead of making this thread another gripe about a black eye for the fire service lets try to be vigilant and do our jobs and make the tough decisions to keep or orginizations on the level.

Does it really matter who posts RIP on of these threads? Its not like there's any unique info coming from this thread. The story is all over the media. So yes, on EMTBravo a thread about lights and consolidation os going to get a lot more attention than this tragedy. But that is only because there are better places to focus your concern than a thread here that just posts links to other sites.

I'm entirely sympathetic to the problem, but if an agency tried to suspend me on that basis - simply that I was one of the people who had been there in a certain time window - I would resign forthwith. You do NOT punish the innocent to get the guilty. In school I once had a teacher try to give me a punishment, as part of a class collective punishment, for something I had not done. I refused point-blank, and I both taught & learned a lesson about justice, and standing up for yourself when you know you're in the right.
Sorry, but this is a subject I've always felt strongly about.

OK sure we can complain all day about the morons that post this stuff, but... Come on really? This is how you clear out the documents? Hell even in no-where Maine we shred any and all documents containing anything with peoples names on it. You have to expect that some idiot is dumpster diving, since we know they do it.

I just went to court recently for a traffic ticket that was from 5+ years ago. I think it's ridiculous that they do this to people. I'm sorry but if you take over 5 years to decide on a court date for such a minor thing, it ought to be expired. Maybe then some of the depts won't be as backlogged as they already are.

Whats wrong with having an agenda? Without an agenda, nothing would ever get done. Progression would never occur, in fact without an agenda, slavery would still be around.
Just because he shines light on a topic that in my opinion needs to be looked at severely by each department doesn't mean he is a bad guy or has terrible ideas. They are just ideas that you do not agree with. Instead of throwing hands up in the air, cry the "beating the dead horse" routine, or "he just has it out for volleys," why not look and understand where he is coming from.
We are the fire department. We are here to protect lives and property. Driving our 500K-1M dollar rigs around to communities near and far to show them off, doesn't really do our tax payers any good when their house burns down when we're not around.
edit: it is ok, and actually takes a bigger person to look at someone else's views and realize "hey, maybe we need to look at it that way." You'll probably get more respect for listening to an idea, and then constructively debating it, then to just call someone ignorant.

It's open to the public and our neighbors of the fire service. The residents of Ossining own this equipment. This is part of the comrade we have with our brothers/sisters in the fire service. Here's a great opportunity to see what the OFD recently purchased. Perhaps another department will see something they like or dislike, who knows. Also take in financially what the equipment cost, etc. etc.... On a personal note when I attend Parades or Inspections throughout the year I like to see what other equipment dept's have on their apparatus and how its setup and operational....
