fireboyny liked a post in a topic by Just a guy in Shooting death of handcuffed man in patrol car ruled a suicide
ok conspiracy commandos let's hear it, what do you think the police did wrong this time ?
Unless you have extensive experience searching people in an arrest situation and finding and not finding hidden contraband on them then you would not be able to accurately say that something " isn't right."
People flip their cuffs all the time, cops miss hidden contraband on people all the time. the weapon in this case was a .380, anyone who knows guns knows how small a .380 is and how easy it is to conceal.
An a** crack and the crotch area can conceal almost anything, most certainly a .380
This is nowhere near the first time a person has committed suicide with a handgun that was missed during a search while in custody.
We have all seen the video of the man in San Bernadino California that made it into the interrogation room of the sheriff's office with a .45 in his waist and shot himself in the head. The guy in CA wasn't handcuffed but this story shows the mindet of people in custody.
In Jauary in Georgia a prisoner snuck a gun into the jail in his rectum and in May a prisoner that had been searched multiple times in Dallas was found to have a handgun in his crotch only after he was transferred to another facitlity. Just last week, a guy got a gun into a jail in nashville and it fell to the floor out of his pants in front of the judge that was booking him.
A further look into this case shows that there was a text on the perps who asking a guy to bring him a gun. The text was from earlier inthe day that he dealt with the cops. The perp called his girlfriend from the back of the radio car and said he had a gun and that he was scared. There were multiple civilian witnesses that said that the doors and windows of the RMP were all closed and that nobody was around it ( cops of civilians) when they heard the shot ring out and saw the cops go over to the car.
Sorry to burst the conspiracy bubble but there really is nothing here other than a drug dealer who was armed with a gun that wasn't smart enough to admit it to the cops when he was caught and decided to take the easy way out.

This discussion has taken place at least a few times before, and I understand your concern over the situation, however, it's a moot point to have this discussion again. Some departments have stubborn leaders who refuse to change, some departments have no leadership, and there's a few that have gotten lost along the way. It happens to many more departments than you think, just as every department has their problems. If you happen to be a taxpayer in the district you are referring to then you need to start a campaign to change it. If you belong to a mutual aid company that is responding to this district, voice your concerns up your chain of command.

So I just finished up an incredible week out in the Outer Banks of North Carolina; for those of you who have been there, I really don't need to say more, and for those of you who have not been there, be sure to put it on your future vacation bucket list. I have never been one to take photos of apparatus, but with the help of my sister's new Nikon D60 camera, I figured I would give it a shot. I know some of the pictures didn't come out perfect, but I hope the majority are worth looking at.

Being a jew myself I can speak freely. These individuals in almost EVERY aspect take advantage of the Earth. From the blatant violation of the sanctity of marriage to the flagrant misuse of the vehicle and traffic laws they just rape and pillage. I am so happy that I live in Putnam far from the filth that they call home in many towns in Orange and Rockland. I feel for all of you that must deal with these people with such a feel of entitlement. They use their supposed block voting to scare every single politician in to succumbing to their needs. We need someone with a set to just tell them to STFU get off welfare and stop playing games. All we need is a law stating that two people living together legally, and verified through surveillance, which I am sure we can get volunteers to do, shall not be the beneficiary of social services.
Rant Over

Hard to belive but triage tags are not required equipment as listed in part 800. Executive order #26 signed by then Gov. G Pataki designated the "ICS as the state standard command & control system during emergency operations." Later (1998) Kits were distributed by NYS DOH EMS to VAC's, REMSCO's, Course sponser's etc. and many still have those original brown MCI kits in the bottom of the outside compartments, you know, along with the other never touched or used equipment such as vests, flares, etc. I wonder how many actually have looked in the kits, much less had a drill in their use.
I just had a discussion with my EMT class on MCIs, here's what I came up with. The average capacity of a metro north car is 100, the eve commute runs about 8-10 cars. Thats 800-1000 people thats more than a plane crash. Lets just say that by the time the train reachs say Katonah in Westchester or Harriman in Orange county they have half of that capacity 400-500. Train derails. Lets say that just a third of that number are injured. The rest were lucky (real lucky) that still 125-150, lets say half of them need ambulance transport, the others are walking wounded and can be transported by bus (if your community has thought that far ahead & can mobilize) that's 62-75 bodies. Two streacher patients in each ambulance....30-40 ambulances!!! Certainly commercial services will have to be used but lets think about command & control. I've seen many VACs hold MCI drills (which I admit is less than most VACs do) and they always seem to have enough resources to deal with their pt. load, amazing. Sorry for the rant, but I think many VAC & county leadership just don't think past the day to day problem of just staffing one ambulance, and we should...thats our business & our community depends on us for it.

The other issue is you rarely see triage (aside from drills) done properly e.g assess, tag and move on. You see many units arrive at incidents that are technically MCIs and getting tunnel vision. Stopping at the first patient and treating, working up the traumatic arrest on the MVA with 5 plus patients and only one unit on scene, etc. Tags are great but they need to be used with the philosophy behind their use: assess, identify, classify, prioritize then treat.Stopping mid stream at the first black tag to start CPR defeats the triage system unless you have multiple units on scene and the red and yellow tags will not suffer for it.
