I can't tell if you're putting on an act and playing dumb, or if you're actually involved in emergencies services when you can't even structure a written sentence into a logical, cohesive manor with proper syntax, grammar and annunciation, so the rest of the world can understand you.
I get that it's the internet, and that people really could care less about spelling late vs. L8, or Lmao.... But seriously brotha, pick up a book and learn the difference between a period and an apostrophe.
People might actually take what you're trying to convey to us seriously.

All members of the Special Response Team are trained to use ALL of the equipment that Grant's (read your tax dollars) have purchased. Its not like we purchased a Rescue, that has to put a piece of apparatus out of service to staff. As far as tax money goes, who do you think pays for all of our equipment? Did the Echo Bay project have money trees grown to aquire equipment and personel? Bottom of da Hill, as far as the County needed more pieces of equipment, don't you think the tax payers could do with a few less firehouses to pay for in Tarrytown?

And we are discussing it Seth. What troubles me is the idea that censorship is OK is even entertained or questioned. This is not intended as a slight against you Seth, you simply asked a question, but it is more than a bit disconcerting to me that the question would even arise in the first place. Preventing the public from filming the police performing their duty amounts to tyranny and as Thomas Jefferson said:
"When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny".

I stare at your initial post and I wonder.... 'Is this Vladamir Putin typing this post?'.. I am seriously heated about this. Arrest people for recording the actions of the State... Hmmm what's next? Not allow people who disagree with the State to testify at trials? Maybe restrict peaceful protests? Maybe re-education camps so no one disagrees with the actions of the police?
All kidding aside, (and I wasn't kidding)... The people, the citizens, have a responsibility to make sure the officers of the State act accordingly to the rule of law and that they are not above the law... All too often we assume the police are always or almost always right. And now you want to remove a new tool in the fight against abuse of power, a tool against the ever teetering balance of security and liberty, a tool against bad officers of the State... But your choice would be to make it illegal to record the police? Well hell why don't you just drive down to D.C., enter the National Archives and rip up the Bill of Rghts?! This may be the most uneducated post I have ever seen. Am I being a bit harsh? Maybe. But I like my rights as an American. And I appreciate my duties as a citizen. And one of my duties is to make sure the police don't violate my fellow citizens rights.
Finally, the only officers who need to worry about being recorded are 'dirty' officers. If you do your job right, then don't worry about being on video. Actually embrace it. And if the police are going to place video cameras every where to see me and watch my actions , then fair is fair, I'll pull out my camera and make sure the State is following the rule of law when it makes arrests.
I'm sure there will be some, if not many, who disagree with me, especially in the law enforcement field. I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend your right to say it.
Rant over and I'll try to avoid this post

New Rochelle & White Plains are part of the Westchester Special Operations Task Force (WSOTF) and both regularly train together along with Eastchester, Fairview, Greenville, Hartsdale, Scarsdale, Mt Vernon, Yonkers and recently Pelham Manor and Larchmont have been added. Our plan is to always send a minimum of 2 squads giving us at least 10ffs/2off.
At todays Incident NR, WP & WCTRT were all dispatched at approximately the same time. NRFD command officers arrived seconds ahead of WPFD R-88. Afew minutes later NRFD R4 & R54 (collapse Unit) arrived another approx. 7 minutes WPFD Collapse unit arrived.
White Plains & NRFD personnel worked as a team using NRFD & WPFD equipment. Their struts from R-88 were staged 1st and used while our trench panels arrived and were in the ground before theirs arrived.
The local IC decides, based on input from the teams.
WCTRT arrived at some point after that (a few of their members were on-scene earlier, but without equipment). They were staged as a back-up and also assisted ConEd in setting up the 2nd VAC truck..

As a fire instructor I had to again notice the push back from the chief who stated he only had to take a 60 hr course, and now it is 112 hrs. "Who wants to drive 2x a week to Carmel". It is thinking like that NY State is on the lower
end of FF-1 course hours. And that always leads to the Career vs Volunteer debate. The last class of recruits traveled 5x a week, 8 hrs a day, for 16 weeks. That is 640 Hrs. With the constant threat of failing out due to poor grades, or not being able to pass CPAT. 19 out of 20 that started finished. It isn't a game, it isn't about how many members your
dept has, it is about giving the customer the service that is expected from a group of people that raised their right hand a swore to protect to the best of their ability the life and property of the residents of their community. If we do nothing the fire will still go out. The ends don't justify the means. TRAINING TRAINING TRAINING AND DEDICATED MEMBERS.

Unprofessional would be department's not getting off of 46.26 when everyone else is on a trunk frequency, or there's is an actual run or a job ongoing or getting on the radio to give your noon time test when companies are currently on a run or just finishing up. This guy just decided to man up and say what a lot of us are already thinking!

There are no Paid Drivers In Westchester. This is a derogatory term used by Volunteers to demean their jobs as Professional Firefighters that work in combo departments. Professional Firefighters in Lake Mohegan, Peekskill are fully trained in the NYS academy and are Firefighters, Not Paid Drivers.

Minority this, minority that. When is everyone going to put race, gender, sexual preferences, religious background, completely behind us, and simply acknowledge when great work is done. What this explorer has done, was exceptional and will surpass the abilities of many Senior firefighters. We shouldn't segregate her any further by saying "this female did this, this female did that" but rather including her in the bigger picture of "this firefighter did this, this firefighter did that." And that should be applied across the board, regardless of the job title or task. The only way to truly include everyone without discriminating, is to remove superfluous titles of race, gender and sexual preference.I don't care who you are, or what you are. If you can cook an excellent cake, you're a great baker. If you can legally get me more money back on my taxes, you're a great accountant. If you can stretch a line, and force a door, vent a roof, follow the chain of command, then you're a Great firefighter.

Me neither.......does that make us "minorities"?
Fact remains though, women are the super minority and in this video this one shows, as do many out there in FDNY-land, that there are qualified women for this job. Hopefully the press and the fraternal groups will finally choose to put these fine examples on a pedestal rather than prop up the weak.

Should we really be that impressed? She's a female big deal there's plenty of great female firefighters. By now we should know firefighting has nothing to do with your gender or race or anything like that. She's obviously put in real time learning her trade.
I am thoroughly impressed with the way that apparatus was set up to be run by one person. It's bad enough if there are no hydrants but requiring huge amounts of manpower to run the water supply part of the fire robs the fireground of the firefighters needed to put out the fire. I like the fact that tremendous amounts of energy were not needed to run around the rig and get things. She basically stays in a small area and accomplishes everything.

I think this is a great idea! On top of it being a "competition," what a great way to get a majority of the teams together to discuss their operational tactics, and view each other's equipment!
Good Luck to the teams that compete.

Kudos to the HFD for a job well done, especially given their limited resources. The first-due crew and IC made an excellent size-up, and succeeded initiating an effective attack AND rescuing one of the occupants. Once again, the HFD's culture of training aggressively and often paid-off.
To the Monday-morning quarterbacks who have posted above, I was there and this was a text-book operation. Well-trained and combat-ready FFs & officers went above and beyond, which resulted in a life being saved.
