Well, as you may have noticed, EMTBravo has been down for over a week, while I was in the hospital for 10 days. Came home to this, and losing 10 years of work brought tears and did not help my recovery. But, after a week, here we are, still crossing my fingers.
The most recent backup we had was corrupt, so we had to back up, salvage this one, and will have to build on from here.
What I need from you is patience, and give us a chance to work out the kinks and bring the forum back, and please post,post,post any current events and IA's to kind of bring us back to today forward.

Apparently, as of today, the Hudson Valley REMSCO has suspended all Care 1 ALS services in the Hudson Valley region based on complaints from the NYS DOH. I don't know if this is also occuring in the other regions that Care 1 services. In Orange County it appears that Mobile Life will be covering the Care 1 coverage area until further notice.

I've been following this, and there was in my opinion little to no thought put into this, just as others have stated a knee jerk reaction. Some have stated about politicians private security, are they going to put 7 bullets in their 10 round magazines? Are they going to sell all illegal guns and magazines once they are illegal? All this law is going to do, is make life more difficult for legal, law-abiding gun owners. The criminals could care less what this law says, and are probably laughing at it. Why? Because they already have their guns, and are not going to register them or put only 7 rounds in their magazines. This law is not going to stop gun violence or get illegal guns off the streets. The only thing I don't agree with, and this is not to start a pissing match or piss people off but it is my opinion. Are police department issued guns only going to be excluded from the ban, or is every gun a police officer own going to be excluded. I have no problem what-so-ever if department issued guns are exempt; but if a police officer has lets say two department issued guns, and 5 other privately owned guns are those exempt as well? Again this is not to start a pissing match or have people jump down my throat, it is my serious opinion and a serious question. Why should a privately owned gun that is used for hunting or target practice be exempt just because it's owned by a police officer and has nothing to do with his/her job. But all that aside, I think this law should have had a lot more thought, time, and input before even going for review then to vote; and will accomplish absolutely nothing.

I have read a lot of information from around the country in regards to departments beginning a program to monitor the air quality during interior firefighting operations, especially during overhaul, and requiring their members to keep on air until these quality checks come back negative for CO and other harmful gases. I am interested in beginning this for our department as well being we have nothing set up as far as when you can come off air, and I see members going in to the building with packs on, but mask dangling at their waist's while their is still active fire. Overhaul is a joke...practically no one wears their packs and it concerns me with all of the press regarding firefighters and cancer rates, as well as respiratory illness...its staggering and unbelievable to think that we still refuse to wear our packs during overhaul. Is it the "Macho" thing??
My question is; does anyone have an SOP already in place that I could review, to get some ideas of how we can write one custom for our needs? Does anyone have any additional information you could share as far as statistics, actuall experience's, or case studies involving respiratory illness and cancer being attributed to being exposed to these gases during overhaul stages? Basically, anything I can use as ammunition when I go to our next officers meeting and begin the process of starting some kind of program for our department.
Another question is; should we even write an SOP right away or just use actuall real time experiences to guide the process and judge what we would need as far as the SOP, and just use our new 4-gas meter to assess air quality and not allow anyone to enter without pack?
Any input would be greatly appreciated, I am not afraid to admit when I do not know enough about a topic and ask for help and advice from others who might know more then me.

Maybe I'm wrong maybe not. How could he scheme a camera or two out of Dell? Delivery #1 was a camera and he replaced the camera with flooring tiles, notifies Dell and has another camera shipped. Delivery # 2 allegedly had wood in the box and not a camera and files another complaint with Dell. If this is the case, hypothetically, he now has 2 cameras in his possession and possibly a full refund from Dell. It could happen and if you think someone wouldn't try this I think you are mistaken. Just my opinion.

This would at least be a decent investment opportunity, but alas, I have all I need (and likely then some) and I don't want the hassle of having to sell them to a FFL in the future. Same goes for buying an potentially banned firearms, except those I've wanted to own. many places are still advertising magazines but for most firearms, those with capacities over 10 rounds are sold out and back-ordered into the distant (post ban) future.
The whole thing frustrates me to no end, common sense has gone by the way of knee jerk reaction. The new bans are going to convert me from an independent thinking, independent voter to a party line voter. Those people I used to scoff at for voting party lines apparently were right, once they have the power look out.

I will certainly undergo psychological testing when every law enforcement agency in NYS does the same thing for their officers.

I do not own a gun, I have shot guns in target practice and don't usually have comments about the gun laws however I have a real problem with this knee jerk reaction by someone who wants to be President some day. I don’t understand how the government sees this as a way to curb gun violence. This law kicks law abiding citizens in the chest making them potential criminals if they have 8 bullets in their in a magazine instead of 7 (I know there are restrictions now but for legal gun owners who have a 10 round clip and would now only be allowed to have 7 it can be a problem) . The government goes after the so called "assault weapons" some of which are a basic shot gun with modern day plastic pieces attached.
The majority of shootings that happen in this country are by criminals who can care less what the law says. Few are committed by legal gun owners.
While some feel the opposite is the way to go...
If you look at the city of Chicago who has the stingiest gun laws in the nation, you see that criminals don't care about laws! Dozens are shot or killed every day and even more on weekends.
Now NY plans these ridiculous laws let us not forget the federal government plans on revising the laws as well. The people must rise up and defeat the government on this one, Go after the true criminals not the guy who follows the law
