Unprofessional would be department's not getting off of 46.26 when everyone else is on a trunk frequency, or there's is an actual run or a job ongoing or getting on the radio to give your noon time test when companies are currently on a run or just finishing up. This guy just decided to man up and say what a lot of us are already thinking!

I know for a fact that they do all the time, just because you do not hear them doesn't mean they aren't helping agencies. It seems like you are you basing this statement solely because you do not hear them on your scanner?

What is wrong with having two helicopters, or three or four? What would happen if it was grounded due to maintenance? Redundancy keeps the machine going. There may be plenty of equipment on standby(i.e. METU, or the USART trailer), no other equipment, works every day for the Tri-County area.

According to a good source, WCPD aviation has placed an order for Airwolf.

Honestly, and truthfully, you missed the boat on this. There are already MANY prominent IA FB groups.

According to the article though it says they will only be dispatched by WCPD, It says nothing about the County PD sending their cars. It's just WCPD dispatching Tuckahoe cars, the town saves their local officers and the "beat cop".

In my opinion NO! There is also no need to have a ladder and tower ladder designation either, a Good Chief will know what resources they have available to them from their mutual aid departments. This is of course MY OERSONAL OPINION.

I didn't realize we could say anything on here that criticized a fire department, especially if the word volunteer is in the original post.....
At least that Tower Ladder wasn't needed to respond to an emergency in the 40 plus hours it was decorated (and presumably out of service)
"Sorry Mr. Taxpayer, that $1,000,000 fire truck you bought for us wasn't available to come save your family because, well, it was Christmas time and we needed to make a kick-ass video with it. How were we to know there would actually be a fire in our district. There wasn't one last week. Can't those dispatchers schedule these calls a little better?

Is it really all of us who don't get it, or is it just you? It's been clearly established you were wrong. Just plain wrong. Yet, you continue to want us to take your side over this calltaker, who it sounds was just doing her job, and doing it well. Why should we blindly side with you over your unwarranted and nasty criticisms? Just because your "on the job"? Your not impressing anyone here. Everyone here is "on the job". You keep doubling down, yet you remain in the wrong. Why should we side with you? You have the nerve to come on this forum, call out this dispatcher, and now, in retrospect, we see it's for no legitimate reason. In all your posts, you have failed to identify how this woman was incompetent.
As for your last thought, I'm glad I don't work with you either, because you seem to have a poor attitude, no attention to detail, and a short fuse. I would have a miserable time dealing with that full-time. Additionally, if while driving "55 mph on a highway" you can't see the MPM, then you may have serious vision issues. I don't want someone like that backing me up. I also don't want someone backing me up who doesn't have the integrity and fortitude to admit when he or she made a mistake. Finally, I don't want anyone working with me who sterotypically believes workers may be inferior, just because they are female. So for once, you said something I agree with, I don't want to work with you either. :-)

This has to be one of the most asinine threads on Bravo in a long time. Way to hit rock bottom!

    Mile Post Markers:
First, you claimed that you referenced to the calltaker the Taconic/BRP Interchange which is MPM 0.00 on the Taconic. Simultaneously, it is MPM 19.12 on the Bronx River Parkway.
Then you claimed that it was right in front of the TMC which is MPM 12.62 on the Sprain Brook Parkway, NOT the Taconic. The Lower Taconic branches off before reaching the TMC.
Now, you claim it was a quarter mile south of the 9A ramp, which could reference EITHER the 141/9A Interchange located at MPM 2.87 on the Taconic OR the newer 9A ramp which is located at MPM 4.67 on the Taconic. Now, you say a quarter mile south of that, which would put you at MPM 4.42 (from the new ramp) OR MPM 2.62 (from the 141/9A ramp). Now the second one would put you on the Lower Taconic.
Now, this whole time, this calltaker is probably thinking to herself "...well, he can't mean the Taconic at all, now can he, because the TMC is on the Sprain, not the Taconic. Maybe if he gives me the MPM, I'll know exactly where he is, so I don't have a Trooper driving all over the place looking for this van!..." So she asks you for the MPM to help clarify things, but at this point, you've decided she's too "mildly retarded" and it all goes down hill from there. Did I get that about right?
See how just reading the next MPM you saw could have avoided all this confusion? You can try to spin this all you want, but it seems obvious to me (and others here) that her follow-up question was reasonable, and not really anything you should have gotten angry over.
Any dispatchers here agree/disagree? Maybe JBE, will chime in. Asking for a MPM a reasonable follow-up question?

Are you talking about by the Kensico Circle or by the Hawthorne interchange??? Maybe she knows exactly where the Taconic meets the Bronx River but wanted to make sure that you knew where you actually were. Asking for a mile marker narrows the "search area" dramatically because people call reporting that they're on the Sprain at the NYC line or the Bronx River Parkway at Jackson Avenue quite often. Sounds like it was a reasonable follow-up question to me.
    What's the big deal?

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with TMC. I have called them with the same type of report and never had a problem. BTW that is NOT the Taconic and the BRP split. BRP doesnt start until way down by the Kensico Dam near Virginia Road. Lower Taconic Parkway is several miles south of the area of the TMC on the Sprain Brook Pkwy.
I do understand your frustration dispatchers should and can assist callers by knowing buildings ,, certainly the building she was sitting in lol.

Luckily Mahopac probably doesn't have a different procedure for Line of Duty vs Active Duty. They haven't had enough members pass where that distinction has to be made. How about who gives a rats a** how they did it so long as his friends and even more importantly his family were given some infinitesimal level of comfort. If the family wanted clowns and jugglers and the dept could provide it, then what more could anyone ask? This kind of s*** stirring goes right along with the people who question weather all LODD deaths are equal. It serves no benefit and only distracts from a department's attempt to honor the service of a member.

The Only reason anyone noticed this time from any other time a member of the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department member has passed away because it was covered by the press. Anytime a member passes away thats what the department does. Do I believe it detracts from a LODD funeral, No. In fact hopefully this is the closest thing ever that the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department experiences to a LODD funeral. I can tell you if that sad day does come the men and women of the department will show everyone the difference between this funeral and a LODD. And this does Not slight anybodies efforts at doing what they can for any member who passes away for any reason.
On a lighter Note Happy Thanksgiving to everyone

I didn't know Mike Purdy, everything everyone says about him was that he was all aces. But, why did he get a fire department funeral? I asked this same question when the "acting" Chief of Cold Spring PD died from a motor vehicle accident was given a full PD Honor funeral.
Acts like this dilute it when guys really get killed in a gun fight (Trooper Dave Brinkerhoff) or in a basement (lt Neuner).
