Thanks

view from my office across the street

Have heard these refered to as "Mom and Pop Taxpayers" I guess in the old days the store owners lived in the house and walked out of their kitchen into work. The meshing of these two buildings does add to the complexity especially when thinking about extension.

Do the volunteers jump on 58 or 59, or does just the one driver usually take it to the job by themselves?

No, the Firefighter takes it to the call !

Wow, so if say Engine 58 pulls up on a worker all alone, he has to wait for the volunteers to arrive before he can do really do anything?

Driver alone can start to hit hydrants, give a size up, stretch handlines to door, and prepare items such as saws. Hopefully the next piece of apparatus is not too far away. Still, it sucks to be alone.
