A neighboring town has just placed a new engine into service, however they call it a squad. I have a friend in NJ who calls his ambulance a squad. We used to have an engine called a squad in Stamford but changed it to an engine, I was told because the same mattered to ISO. Another neighboring town used to call utilities (including old chief's cars) squads. So what defines a squad in general? I believe in FDNY they are engines with enhanced equipment, which of course brings with it dedicated personnel trained to use that equipment. So do all the departments calling their engines squads make this distinction? What about the places calling their rescues squads, do they do something that other rescues don't or can't?

1554hrs-Command advising E479 to stage on Highwood Drive and start making the vehicles safe.

And yes, I believe it is the Spartan that Norwood is replacing.

Norwood purchasing a new Seagrave engine

Englewood Hospital & Medical Center  took delivery of a 2017 Ford Explorer SUV for use as a Tour Chiefs unit  Unit delivered  by First Priority 

Finally caught Demerest’s New Freightliner M2 King cab Braun unit 427  at The ER this am  This is Their new color scheme also  A member of the crew commented back LED lights bright  no need for Chevrons !!!

Here’s MCRU Unit #9  Hospital ID #263 Assigned to Englewood Hospital & Medical Center It’s a Freightliner Rescue 1  walk around  Body each unit features a light tower inflatable heating cooling shelter our unit also features a refrigerator as well as other mass casualty equipment  & Trailer Hatch To tow Task Force trailers containing  ASAP’s & Mobile Cots  blankets assorted supplies They also do limited Decon at Haz Mat  incidents with the Deon trailer This unit can be deployed Anywhere in the state of NJ As part of the EMS Task Force It’s Also Used At large outdoor events

Just Put in service this past week Englewood Health ‘s ( yes a rebranding) Unit 2012  Running As BLS 236 2018 Ford FSeries Braun Same Spec’s as previous delivery 

Did this team ever get trained and formally certified or did it die like so many other ideas for emergency services?

The truck was purchased by the grandson of a charter member. The charter member was instrutmental in the purchase of this truck back in 1982.
So it's nice to see that the  truck remains in the family and it will stay local.

And looks like the demolition of the old Station 1 is now in full swing....
