    Seth,
I am VERY sorry to hear about your illness, losing your job and everything else!! I am glad you are moving back to NY, but I wish it was under better/different circumstances. Be strong and keep your head up and things will eventually fall back into place and get better again. Feel free to give me a shout if you need anything. Take care Brother!

I am not a father, but I have plenty of nieces and nephews and I know the rage that I would feel if this was happening to one of them. So, if I was a father, those feelings would be multiplied by a a thousand. I would have done the same thing that this father did. Rapists are one of the lowest forms of life to begin with, but a child molester/rapist is even worse in my book. This guy did society a BIG FAVOR by ending this guys life.

Does anyone here know anyone who has taken the test or anyone who is currently employed at the Fairfax County Virginia 911 Center. I am going down to take the test for this agency at the end of this month. I am just trying to get some more info about it. I have been on their website etc, but being able to speak with someone could give me better insight.
I also applied for Loudoun County Virginia 911 Center as a fire/rescue dispatcher and as a Public Safety Dispatcher with the Prince George's County Maryland 911 Center. Again, I have been on the websites for these agencies, but being able to speak to someone with first hand knowledge would be very helpful. Thank you in advance.

    Hi guys,
I've had a rough couple of months.
I became critically ill in June while on a trip to Chicago, and was hospitalized in ICU intubated for several days.
A few days after I got home to Texas, same thing happened, I had a procedure to corrrect the problem, but while I was intubated I aspirated vomit somehome and came up with severe double pneumonia. Physically, I can only use the computer for a limited amount of time right now, and am still extremly weak but am getting better by the day.
While I was in the hospital, I had no access to my phone or computer. I lost my job because I wasn't elegible for FMLA yet and I ran out of time that I could use, so I'm on a very tight budget. I can reapply for my job, but read on to find out why I won't.
My PayPal account that I use to pay for this site was hacked, and I was cleaned out of all the funds for this site. Although PayPal will be reimbursing me, it will be several weeks. I'm on a limited budget right now, and bills for the website are due soon and I can't bill, sell, or design any ads right now to raise money, nor will I be soliciting donations.
Earlier this week, my luck started to turn around the best it can at this point. A very awesome longtime friend and great person helped me out, big time. I am thankful for him and his bosses because his actions and concern gave me great motivation to keep going and renewed my passion. For right now, all I'm going to be saying is that I'm moving back to NY in the next week.............................I think I'll be much happier back there, especially because I miss all my friends from NY and working there. I LOVE Austin and Texas and will miss it (I've lived here for 4+ years already), and have been succesful and had awesome experience with the agencies I worked for , but at this point I need to start taking care of myself. After I was no longer healthy enough to be a career firefighter anymore, my heart was broken and I really wasn't the same-it destroyed me, but I've finally had closure on that and want to have the old pre-2007 Seth back.
There is MUCH more to this story, but please don't speculate.
I also apologize for not getting back to all those who hae been calling and emailing, it just gets a little overwhelming right now as I recover.
I have over 1,500 emails personally from friends, collegues, and EMTBravo members and related to me since May 26th, and eventually I will get to them all.
I traded in my car and sold off a lot of my things and bought a small 2005 Ford F-350 Super Duty/Winnebago Aspect 23' RV with only 7,000 miles on it. It's got all the comforts of home, and is cheaper and easier for me to live, especially since I will still have the home in Texas.
Does anyone know of RV Parks in the NY/CT area that are affordable and have electric and water hookups?
I was hoping I could park it at an FD or EMS, and in exchange join that agency and they would technically have a driver in house. I am stilll a certified Firefighter and Paramedic, and am capable of driving, operating, and maintaining any type of emergency vehicle. I can drive ambulances, midmount and rearmount aerials and tower ladders, engines (I am certified in pumping and water supply), rescue trucks, tankers, brush trucks, etc. If someone knows of an agency that could work something out with me, I would greatly appreaciate it. Email me at seth@emtbravo.com if you know of anything, even if short term.
I hopefully will have a job lined up, but I am looking for a second job, if anyone knows anything that's open and pays decent. It doesn't have to be emergency services. Email me at seth@emtbravo.com .
I wish I never gave up some of my Westchester jobs I had, I always thought the grass was greener and kept moving up jobs, but I look back now and had it great right where I started.
Thanks guys for your concern, and whatever help you can offer me. I hope that some of you guys can come up and hang out with me when I get back.
There is more to what I am going through, but please don't speculate or comment on that.

Not only did the restaurant NOT pick up my bill, they gave me the VICTIMS bill!!
OK kidding, but no they did not get the tab. Based on my consumption Hx, it could have been a bank breaker for them.
I have forgotten how to quote previous posts, but that guy a few posts back is right- the on -duty LVAC medic got the obstruction out with the magills after he looked, I looked and he looked again. That occured after we got pulses back with CPR and back blows.
My guess is that dieing kind of relaxed his airway which allowed our CPR and attempts at BVM'ing to get in enough air to quicken and strengthen his heart rate and contraction.
Being a medic, I am always skeptical of pre-arrival "saves", so I am even skeptical of mine. I know I felt for a pulse and found none, and there was ZERO respiratory effort. With CPR we got a pulse quite fast, and during the "analyze" of the AED no shock was indicated, so in retrospect, I bet he had cardiac activity, but due to hypoxia it was slow and weak and we just did not/could not detect it. If you are in doubt of a pulse, then you gotta get to work, and that is what we did. I have seen CPR stopped in many cases of "hey I gotta pulse!" only to find out it was, well, wishful thinking. Was this a true arrest save? not sure. Was it a life save, yea, I think it was because if no action was taken during the response, the pt would have progressed further down the road to death, in all likelyhood past the point of no return. Since he had stopped breathing before I even got to him, the Grim Reaper must have gotten a decent head start on EMS. But in the end, we prevailed. I'd name the on duty guy, but I don't know how he'd feel about it. He gets a lot of credit too.

I agree that the employees of Empress are not the problem and anger should not be directed at them. The YFD has worked well with the dedicated and professional employees of Empress for many years now. In light of the current situation and rumors, we have proactively let our members know that anger or disrespect should not be directed at Empress members. However, this was just precautionary...our people are professional and respectful as well and we have no reason to believe that YFD members have in any way expressed anger or disrespect toward Empress employees.
Many Empress employees have expressed to YFD members how much they value the YFD First Responder Program, and how many times they have personally witnessed lives being saved or positively impacted by YFD members as a result of this program, and we appreciate that. (Don't worry, we will not identify you to management of Empress for making such statements).
I would encourage both YFD members and Empress employees to continue to reach out to one another to express mutual respect and appreciation where warranted in these trying times.
We are hoping that our communication with ownership of Empress ambulance will improve going forward...
In regard to these rumors, or for any other issue an Empress employee may have with members of the YFD, or advice on how the First Responder Program might be improved, please feel free to contact me directly. (914) 377-7582.

If you are going to make a commute to NYC to work for TransCare or Citywide, you should shorten your trip and get off one of the many exits for Yonkers.......and come work for Empress. With TC & SC, all you are ever going to do with those companies is, transport after transport after transport......maybe a code 3 "Nursing Home" emergency once in a while.......At Empress, you will do transports, BUT....you will also do 911 jobs in Yonkers & Pelham Manor and in the near future........possibly Mount Vernon 911 jobs, if Empress gets the contract back again. In addition, Empress is a Union Shop, so the pay plus the benefits are much better than working for a non-union private EMS agency.
