Very short report, highlighting the firefighter who was killed in the dumpster explosion in Wisconsin that we discussed here in depth. Showed the National Memorial Service in Maryland, gave some statistics. Ironically, much of the fire footage shown in the piece was from Chicago FD.
Edit: posted this same time as the above post with the link, making this post basically irrelevant. Was going to delete this post, noticed the "delete post" feature has disappeared? Where'd that go?

I just read the IA for the Croton incident regarding the subject stuck in the mud.
I just wanted to say awesome job to WCPD Aviation for an outstanding job! That is a large area and would be very tricky for any sort of rescue or other emergency. AIR-2's assistance undoubtedly played a large role in the positive outcome of this situation. Just another great example of why WCPD Aviation is such an outstanding resource for the County. Job well done lads!
Also, kudos to all the responders on the ground; FD, EMS and PD. Great heads-up thinking by the IC to call in Air-2 and in such a timely manner. From the IA, Air-2 was in the area within 10 minutes of being requested.

They are knock offs of Whelen lights and are made in China, not the US.

All of my flights with Jetblue including my international flight to the Dominican Republic have been nothing other than great experiences. The flights were clean, left on time, the crew was very helpful and I would go as far as to say they made flying into and out of JFK enjoyable. The prices have always been good for me, I have not paid more than 100 round trip from JFK to Burlington or Chicago and 300 round trip for JFK to the DR. I too would love to go to Alaska, looks like I have trip to plan. Any idea the fare rate?

The Bedford Hills Fire Department has recently taken delivery the new Car 2033, a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe - Special Services Series. The Whelen emergency lighting and Havis-Shields console was furnished by Warnock Automotive Group and installed by Pulsoni Custom Installations in Sleepy Hollow. The reflective striping and gold-leaf was completed by Forest Hills of Long Island. The vehicle is a duplicate to the current Car 2031, a 2007 Chevrolet 2500 Series Suburban and Car 2032, a 2009 Chevrolet 2500 Series Suburban.
The Whelen CenCom siren, Kenwood and Motorola mobile radios are housed in a Havis-Shields 30" console. Console accessories include: side mounted armrests, cupholders and a 9" storage compartment containing a vehicle charger for portable radio and a Streamlight Stinger flashlight.
A rear custom cabinet was fabricated by Chivvis Enterprises in Long Island. The cabinet provides storage for the command board, SCBA, gear and other related firefighting equipment. A special shelf was constructed to allow for the emergency radio equipment to be mounted on
    swivels.
A special thanks to BHFD's very own Ex-Capt. Ross Burbank and his staff at Burquip in Bedford Hills for fabricating the custom mounting bracket for the Knox-Box Sentralock.

The Pound Ridge FD, in Westchester County, recently took delivery of a new Chief's response vehicle, a 2010 Chevrolet Suburban.

While most lighting systems today incorporate LED lightbars, the PRVFD always utilizes a Code 3 MX7000 lightbar. Five upper level halogen rotators, front intersection sweep lights, alleys, takedowns, rear work lights and eight lower level LED flashers are all built in. 700 series Super LEDs were installed in the grille with M4s on each outer corner and rear cargo door. A Dominator Traffic Advisor in the rear cargo window and HideAway LEDs in the rear taillights, complete the system, which is controlled by a Whelen CenCom system. Four halogen floodlights were installed under the sides of the vehicle providing ground perimeter lighting for nighttime operations.

An ExtendoBed sliding cargo bed carrier provides storage for scene management equipment, EMS gear, SCBA and turnout gear, Command supplies and communications equipment. The front console is a Havis vehicle specific unit which contains the CenCom control head, County trunk and department radios.

Specialty Warning Systems extends their thanks to the Pound Ridge FD for their confidence in us to provide their new Suburban. We look forward to working with them in the future on other projects.

Interactions between field units and 60 Control operators are generally limited to radio transmissions during an incident. Take a quick look at their role as call takers, all of whom are certified emergency medical dispatchers. Great interviews with 651 and 662, and of course, well-delivered pre-arrival instructions by 637.

Well, Mid June rolls around and it's time for vacation. I had this trip planned for a while. I gotta tell you, I had no intention of shooting any rigs on this last trip. Well, maybe two or three. Turned into a few more.
I left the Chateau and headed out to Mount Rushmore. After soaking in the sights, I stopped in the Firehouse Brewery in Rapid City, SD. From there it was down to LA via Denver, and Vegas.
My intention was simply to shoot one Los Angeles County Rig. But before I got that, it was Orange County Engine 63 I just happened to roll up on.

I headed over to OCFA Station 61, across the street from Knotts Berry Farm. Spied Truck 46 from the street. Took my shots, and took off for the north County.

My destination was an hour plus away and made it there in pretty good time. Especially for a guy who doesn't like to sit around twiddling my thumbs in traffic. I arrive in the little area called Pearblossom. LA County Station 79. Paid Engine and Patrol, Volunteer Engine in the back.

    Engine 79, 2007 KME
This was the Engine 79 that Code 3 did a few years back. It was given to the Volunteers when the KME was delivered, 1995 Freightliner. It replaced a 1970's vintage Crown.

This was all I really wanted, but the bug bit me. So I ran down to Yorba Linda, home of President Nixon, and a special lady friend of mine. Sorry boys, no pictures of her. But while waiting for her to get ready for a night out, I took some shots of OCFA Engine 32.

This was it until I went home. Or so I thought. I headed out to Tempe, Arizona to see another friend of mine. No intentions at all to shoot anything, as evidenced by me driving out with my friends daughter and her boyfriend, and the bf saying, "Hey look, smoke!!" Had to follow, and it was Mesa, Engine 201, and I don't know which Truck. Junkyard fire. Shot taken with the cell.

Finished up my trip with a few days on the shore. Back to work, and in between, a little trip to the city of Brotherly Love.
First stop, Engine 29, Medic 15, and Rescue 1. Rescue 1 didn't come out too good, and you guys deserve a little better from me.

Next stop, Center City and Chinatown.
    Engine 20

For some reason, I can't reply to my own topic. So I am going to finish up on here.
Next stop, the Battleship of the West, Squrt 57.

Northbound, Engine 50 and Truck 12.
    Brand new KME

We bid Philadelphia adieu..Next stop, next post, the Silver City Fest, day 1.
